The giant pipe organ in Notre-Dame hides a vault, not a soundtrack. Rose plays it by stepping on oversized floor keys engraved with zodiac and celestial symbols. Hit them in the right order and a sealed basement opens nearby. Inside is War and Famine, a Legendary pair of dual swords.

Quick answer: In the Great Organ Room, step on Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Pisces, Virgo, Sun & Moon, Leo, Cancer, then Aries. Then exit left and go down into the basement to reach the War and Famine altar.

Great Organ Room location in Notre-Dame

The Great Organ Room is a district of Notre-Dame, part of Dracula’s Castle. On the map it sits directly above the Main Hall. The keys run across the floor below the organ pipes, so you play the instrument by walking and jumping across it.

Before you start, check these requirements:

  • You need the Air Dash ability. The outer Aries and Pisces keys are too far apart to reach on foot.
  • There is no time limit, so you can play each note slowly.
  • A plaque near the room hints that something is buried beneath a set of stairs. That is where the basement opens.

Notre Dame secret piano song: key order

The clue is in a stained-glass gallery in Notre-Dame. Each window shows a zodiac sign, and each sign has between one and nine lit candles beneath it. The song is those signs in candle order, from fewest candles to most. The center Sun & Moon key counts as one note.

Rose speaks in a dialogue box while Joan stands in armor on a rampart beside a planted sword, with fire and a cathedral behind.
Rose introduces herself as Rose Belmont and asks Joan for her key while the two stand on the rampart before burning Notre-Dame.
NoteKey symbolCandlesKey position
1Libra11st right of center
2Scorpio22nd right of center
3Sagittarius33rd right of center
4Pisces4Far-right outer key
5Virgo51st left of center
6Sun & Moon6Center key
7Leo72nd left of center
8Cancer83rd left of center
9Aries9Far-left outer key

Several keys are not part of the song at all, so step only on the ones in the table. The candles decide the order. If the windows in your game show different counts, follow the candles: the rule is always lowest count first.

A wrong key breaks the sequence. If that happens, start again from note 1 on Libra.

How to play the tune on the organ

Start on the right side of the organ. Step on Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius in that order, moving outward from the center.
Use an Air Dash to reach the far-right edge, then touch down on Pisces. Every key you activate sends a beam of light upward, confirming that each note registered.

Run back toward the middle. Step on Virgo, the first key left of center, then on the Sun & Moon key in the center.
Continue left and step on Leo, then Cancer.
Air Dash to the far-left outer key and land on Aries to finish the song.

Here’s how you know it worked. A green musical flash appears on the left side of the screen, and a “Work of Mercy completed” banner pops up. The basement mechanism stays unlocked after that, so you don’t need to play the song again.

Open the hidden basement and claim War and Famine

Leave the Great Organ Room through the exit on the left. Head back toward the stairs near the plaque.
Find the floor that is now open. Take the lift there down into the vault beneath the stairs.

Run right through the underground corridor until you reach the glowing altar.
Interact with the altar to collect War and Famine. The weapon card opens, and you can equip the swords from there by holding the prompt.

The swords have a timing-based special. If you press Attack just as your previous hit lands, the combo keeps going instead of ending. When the combo does end, the final strike leaves a zone on the floor that boosts Rose’s damage while she stands in it. The lore entry says Death took the blades from the armoury of the Four Horsemen to arm Dracula’s top lieutenants.

Great Organ Room and Notre-Dame puzzle records

The swords are not the only thing in the room. If you’re trying for full completion, keep the rest of the Great Organ Room in mind. Notre-Dame also lists one Work of Mercy that names a hidden puzzle.

The Fugue sheet is one of three melody sheets in Notre-Dame. The Sonata of Notre-Dame sheet is in the Sealed Scriptorium, and the Concerto of Notre-Dame sheet is in La Flèche. The War and Famine vault needs none of them, though: the zodiac order and the Air Dash are enough to get the swords.

Orange-haired Rose speaks in a dialogue box while Joan kneels on a rampart before a burning cathedral and giant flames.
Rose tells Joan, “But… you haven’t been saving your people, Joan. You’ve been killing them,” on a rampart overlooking burning Notre-Dame.
