Droid Traits in Star Wars Droid Tycoon are bonus perks attached to a droid on top of its normal droid perks. You get them by paying Nova Crystals at a scanner terminal, and you can reroll them as often as you can afford. Iconic droids like Chopper, BB-8, and R2-D2 can also roll a trait that no other droid can get.

Quick answer: Use a Scan Droid Traits terminal near the Sandcrawler. An Iconic droid costs 200 Nova Crystals to discover or reroll. A Mythic droid like Axi-Pod costs 55 to discover and 10 to reroll.

Droid Trait costs in Nova Crystals

The price depends on the droid’s rarity, and so does the gap between discovering a trait and rerolling it. Iconic droids charge the same for both actions. Mythic droids make the first scan cost more, then make rerolls cheap.

That gap matters if you’re chasing a specific roll. At 10 Nova Crystals per attempt, a Mythic droid can be rerolled twenty times for the cost of one Iconic reroll.

Where to find the trait scanner stations

There are two scanner stations, both outside near the first base by the Sandcrawler. They mirror each other on opposite sides of the area, so a busy public lobby doesn’t end up queuing at a single terminal. Each one sits on a platform with a teal glowing ring and a blue interaction marker floating above the console.

How to discover or reroll a Droid Trait

Walk up to either scanner station outside the base. Stand on the platform until the interaction prompt appears.
Interact with the terminal labeled Scan Droid Traits. This opens your droid list.
Pick the droid you want to scan from your inventory. Its current trait, if it has one, is shown along with the cost.
Select Discover Trait for a droid with no trait yet, or Reroll Trait to replace an existing one. The Nova Crystals are spent as soon as you confirm.

You’ll know it worked when the terminal scans the droid, a beacon of light shoots up from it, and a banner announces the result, such as “DEFAULT TRAIT! +5% CRITICAL CHANCE,” “GOLD TRAIT! +10% CRITICAL CHANCE,” or “RAINBOW TRAIT! +100% PICKAXE AMOUNT ON FUSIONS.” The new trait also appears on the droid in the companion management menu.

A reroll replaces the old trait. If a droid already has a Rainbow roll you like, scanning it again means gambling that result away.

Standard Droid Traits and their value ranges

The terminal has a Trait Guide button that lists every trait in two pages. The first page covers the standard traits any droid can roll, with each one’s possible range and its rarity tier: Common, Gold, Diamond, or Rainbow.

Each roll also comes back with its own quality label, and that label tracks where the number lands. A Default roll of Critical Chance gave +5% and a Default Critical Amount gave +10%, both the floor of their ranges. A Rainbow Critical Amount roll gave +50%, and a Rainbow Fusion Expert roll gave +100%, both the ceiling. Gold sits in between, with a Gold Critical Chance roll landing at +10%.

Iconic Droid Traits for each droid

Page two of the Trait Guide lists the Iconic traits. Each one is tied to a single named droid and can’t show up anywhere else.

Companion bonus traits: DJ R-3X, BB-8, and D-O

Three Iconic traits share the same wording, “Companion Bonus Active while working,” and they do something no standard trait can. Normally these droids only give their bonus when equipped as your active companion. With the trait, they keep giving it while assigned to work, which frees up your companion slot for something else.

  • DJ R-3X keeps giving 2x World Mission Progress.
  • BB-8 keeps giving 2x Upgrade Chips.
  • D-O keeps giving Half Fusion Time.

Pairing Chopper with WG-22 for critical hits

Iconic traits aren’t the only thing worth rolling on Iconic droids, since they can land standard traits too. A WG-22 with a Rainbow +50% Critical Amount roll works well next to Chopper, whose Crit Expert adds an extra Multi Crit. Equipping both stacks more crits with bigger crit damage.

Do Droid Traits persist after a Super Rebirth?

Iconic ones do. The scanner screen states it directly: “Iconic Droid Traits persist between Super Rebirths!” That makes the 200 Nova Crystal price on an Iconic droid a long-term buy. A good roll on Chopper, BB-8, or any other Iconic droid stays with it through a Super Rebirth, so you won’t have to pay for it again.
