There’s a teleport platform at Cinder’s Ascent in Enshrouded that is meant to lift you up to the floating isles, and it doesn’t work yet. Activating The Gate To The Stars is the quest that switches it on. Loraine Crim, the Ancient Researcher, sends you to light six beacons, and each one sits at the bottom of its own dungeon. Each beacon is tied to one of Embervale’s biomes, and the quest ends only when all six are burning.
Quick answer: The quest is done when the journal reads “Complete All Beacon Dungeons: 6/6,” changes to “Talk To The Ancient Researcher,” and Loraine Crim then hands you Cinders Of The End.
Activating The Gate To The Stars: Objectives and reward
Loraine Crim gives the quest. She lives in Mother Flame’s Domicile in Cinder’s Cradle, and she comes to you through the earlier quest Land Of The Sky Islands. Within her own questline, this quest comes after Crafting An Infusion Altar. It has four objectives, which run in a fixed order, and it pays 450 XP.

- Reach And Use The First Dungeon Entrance (the Springlands one)
- Complete The Springlands Beacon Dungeon
- Complete All Beacon Dungeons, tracked as a counter out of six
- Talk To The Ancient Researcher
Only the first dungeon has a required order. Springlands has to go first. After that, the remaining five can be done in any order you like. Their entrances show up on the map once the third objective begins.
Loraine also crafts the Archaic Lockpick. You need those lockpicks to open the locked chests scattered through these dungeons. She can make 15 recipes in total, including the Infusion Altar, the Placeable Gem Forge, and the Vorgoth’s Soulbound armor pieces.

Add to Google Preferences →The six Beacon Dungeons in Cinder’s Cradle
One detail can be confusing at first. All six entrances are physically in Cinder’s Cradle, and every entrance is level 48. But each entrance teleports you into a dungeon set in a different biome, and the enemies inside are scaled to that biome. That’s why the Springlands museum is an easy run while the Albaneve Summits lab is a hard one.
| Beacon Dungeon | Leads into | Area level | Boss |
|---|---|---|---|
| Springlands | Embervale Museum | 9 | None |
| Revelwood | Library Foyer, Library, Grand Planetarium | 15 | None |
| Nomad Highlands | Engine Chambers | 18 | Ancient S.P.D.R. Construct |
| Kindlewastes | Hydropower Plant | 23 | None |
| Veilwater Basin | Engine Chambers | 45 | None |
| Albaneve Summits | Frontier Research Lab | 46 | Ancient S.P.D.R. Construct |
Ancient Constructs patrol all six dungeons, and C.R.T.R. Constructs are the type you’ll encounter most often. Fell soldiers appear in every dungeon but the museum. Each dungeon has a chest containing one section of the Embervale miniature. The model is complete only after every section is fitted into its frame, so completing the quest also completes the set.
Every dungeon starts the same way. You step onto a pink, glowing, circular teleport pad at the surface entrance, and the game marks the location as reached before sending you inside.

What a full six-beacon run looks like
A complete run through all six dungeons takes about an hour and a half of play. Each dungeon has the same basic shape. You fight through halls of automatons, shut down alarms or unlock barriers using wall consoles and hidden switches, open chests, and then light the beacon on a central dais. Lighting the beacon moves the quest counter up by one, and an exit teleporter takes you back to the surface.
Springlands and Revelwood
The Springlands dungeon is the Embervale Museum. It has a central circular elevator that drops you onto a lower floor covered in fire traps, and an alarm sequence over a set of grates that you shut off at a console. A locked chest near the end holds the Springlands Miniature Piece and an Ancient Ring of Health. Lighting the beacon changes the quest to the six-dungeon counter at 1/6.

Revelwood is a library spread across several floors, and wall switches open its doors. A chest partway through holds a Candlelight Wand. Once the last door lock is open, the beacon sends a pink beam upward and the counter reaches 2/6.

Albaneve Summits and the Ancient S.P.D.R. Construct
The Frontier Research Lab is filled with ice and Shroud. Destroy a Shroud Root in an inner cavern to clear the red mist and earn a skill point. The boss is the Ancient S.P.D.R. Construct, a massive spider-like machine that unleashes laser volleys and sends explosive shells flying. In the footage, the player dies on the first try but wins on the second, attacking from range with a wand and bow.

Defeating it drops the Ancient S.P.D.R. Construct Eye and a Molten Axe. After that, the beacon behind it can be lit, bringing the counter to 3/6.

Nomad Highlands, Kindlewastes, and Veilwater Basin
The Nomad Highlands dungeon runs through the Vukah Cave Pillar and the Engine Chambers. It has lava pits, vertical moving platforms, security gates, and patrolling bots.

A chest on a balcony holds the Nomad Highlands Miniature Piece, an Electric Initialiser, and a Crystalwater Staff. A hidden side room has the Ring of the Mother Flame. A second Ancient S.P.D.R. Construct waits on a large staircase and drops Astral Daggers. Beating it and lighting the beacon brings the counter to 4/6.
The Kindlewastes entrance sits on a ruin on an island in the clouds, and it leads into the Hydropower Plant. It has a second Shroud Root, which gives another skill point, plus a Gem of Armoring and another chest with an Electric Initialiser and a Crystalwater Staff. Veilwater Basin is the last one in the footage. It’s flooded and overgrown. A deep underwater shaft holds a chest with a Rattlesnake Bow, and a later locked chest has the Veilwater Basin Miniature Piece and Sky Specter Pants. Lighting that sixth beacon completes the dungeon objective.
Getting between the entrances takes up much of the run. In the footage, the player sets a Flame Altar on a tall cliff as a fast-travel stop, then glides from there toward the later dungeons.
Beacon Dungeon loot: Item stats and collectibles
Several items in the footage are worth looking at closely before you decide what to keep. The figures below are each item’s base values.
| Item | Slot / class | Rarity | Key figures |
|---|---|---|---|
| Off hand / Warrior | Rare | Item level 45; Bash 1, Opportunity 1, Power Parry 1 | |
| Ring / Warrior | Uncommon | Item level 45; Health 50, Health Regeneration 10 | |
| Wand / Mage | Common | Item level 1–55; Fire damage, 0.6 s attack speed |
Emberguard Shield is a Warrior off-hand item with a Parry Power stat of 1. It also has a Blacksmith recipe, which requires Flame level 9 or higher and must be crafted under a roof. So the copy you find in the museum isn’t the only way to get one.
Ancient Ring of Health also gives Frost Resistance 1 and 60 seconds of Wet Duration Reduction. Its perk pool includes Health 140, Veteran 1, Battle Heal 1, Health Leech 8, and Health Regeneration 21. It’s the level 45 version of the Ring of Health, which is a level 10 ring with Health 25 and Health Regeneration 5.
Candlelight Wand does pure Fire damage. It has Multishot 1, Overcharge 30%, and Mana Regeneration 16, and its perks are Health Leech 3% and Critical Strike Chance 7%. Its damage goes up by a fixed amount as the item level rises.
| Candlelight Wand level | Fire damage |
|---|---|
| 1 | 7 |
| 5 | 11 |
| 10 | 16 |
| 15 | 21 |
| 20 | 26 |
| 25 | 31 |
| 30 | 36 |
| 35 | 41 |
| 40 | 46 |
| 45 | 51 |
| 50 | 56 |
| 55 | 61 |
The collectibles are mostly for display. Revelwood’s chests hold more than its miniature piece, and a few of them belong to other collection sets.
| Collectible | Collection | Rarity | Stack size |
|---|---|---|---|
| Embervale Miniature Model | Rare | 20 | |
| Orrery | Rare | 20 | |
| Meteorites | Rare | 20 | |
| Meteorites | Rare | 20 |
The Middle Orrery Rings are one of three ring sets. The inner, middle, and outer rings combine on a display pillar to show a planetary system.
The two Shroud Roots in Albaneve Summits and Kindlewastes each give you a Skill Point. Skill Points are spent at the Flame, and they stack up to 1000.
How the quest confirms completion
The journal tracks your progress directly. Each beacon you light raises the “Complete All Beacon Dungeons” counter by one. At 6/6, the objective changes to “Talk To The Ancient Researcher.” Talking to Loraine Crim at your base ends the quest, gives you the 450 XP, and starts Cinders Of The End. In the footage, the first new journal entry after that is “Gathering Celestium.”

Lighting all six beacons also counts toward the Cinder’s Cradle stargazer achievement. To earn it, light every beacon and ride up from Cinder’s Ascent; that trip is possible only after this quest powers the teleport platform.
