Biruta is a Common Cogni pet in Aion 2. Each Pet Insight level raises its permanent Owned Effect, and only one monster in the open world drops its souls. Reaching Lv. 3 comes down to killing that monster enough times, at the right spawn, before other players get to it.
Quick answer: Kill Biruta Wanderers in Verteron’s Eastern Tolbas Forest (Elyos) or Altgard’s Nameless Cemetery (Asmodian). You need 5 souls to unlock Biruta, then 25 and 75 more.
Biruta soul costs and stats by Pet Insight level
Biruta souls are spent in three stages. The first 5 unlock the pet at Lv. 1, and the next two stages raise its Insight level. A pet with no souls at all needs 105 Biruta souls to reach Lv. 3.
| Stage | Souls needed | Running total | Owned Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unlock (Lv. 1) | 5 | 5 | HP +10 |
| Lv. 1 to Lv. 2 | 25 | 30 | HP +20, Critical Hit +1 |
| Lv. 2 to Lv. 3 | 75 | 105 | HP +30, Critical Hit +2, Might +1 |
The Owned Effect is active as soon as you own the pet, whether or not you are using it as your companion. Lv. 3 also lets you transform into Biruta. Pet Insight bonuses are the same for every Cogni pet, so Biruta’s stats are level with other Cogni pets such as Biruta Herbalist.

The Biruta Wanderer is a level 17–26 Cogni monster. It is aggressive and will attack you first. Biruta souls drop from it as Soul: Biruta (Bound), and there is one spawn area for each faction.
| Region | Area | Spawn points | Faction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Verteron | Eastern Tolbas Forest | 9 | Elyos |
| Altgard | Nameless Cemetery | 4 | Asmodian |
Eastern Tolbas Forest has more than twice as many Wanderer spawn points as Nameless Cemetery. It also shares the area with Tolbas Kalu Workers and Tolbas Kalu Trackers, so check nameplates before you commit to a target.
Farming Biruta Wanderers in Eastern Tolbas Forest
Wanderers do not respawn quickly, and other players are usually farming the same trees for the same souls. You will get more tags by holding one spot than by circling the whole zone.

Asmodian players can use the same approach at Nameless Cemetery in Altgard. That area has fewer spawn points, so holding a single spot matters even more there.
Biruta creatures that do not drop Biruta souls
Several monsters share the Biruta name, and some of them spawn right next to Wanderers. Only the Wanderer drops souls for the Biruta pet.
| Creature | Level | Location | Soul drop |
|---|---|---|---|
| Biruta Wanderer | 17–26 | Eastern Tolbas Forest, Nameless Cemetery | |
| Biruta Herbalist | 17 | Nameless Cemetery | |
| Biruta Fighter | 17 | Nameless Cemetery | None |
| Highland Biruta Wanderer | 46 | Ruberein Highland | None |
| Highland Biruta Herbalist | 46 | Ruberein Highland | None |
| Highland Biruta Fighter | 46 | Ruberein Highland | None |
Biruta Herbalists in Nameless Cemetery drop souls for the separate Biruta Herbalist pet. Those souls do not count toward Biruta’s Insight. Biruta Fighters drop Spiritstones and gear, but no souls.
The three Highland Biruta variants in Eltnen’s Ruberein Highland belong to the Chapter 1 update. That update is live in Korea and Taiwan but has not reached the global version.
Other Biruta soul sources
Farming covers most of the 105 souls, but a few other sources can fill part of the gap:
- Pet Soul Chest: Cogni can contain Biruta souls.
- Using a Pet: Biruta item with the pet already in your collection grants a soul instead.
- Pet: Biruta can be obtained from the Mysterious Pet Chest (Bound), Pet Chest: Cogni (Bound), or Growth Pet Chest (Bound).
- Biruta is also sold by the Black Cloud Merchants and rewarded by the My Reliable Friends II achievement and the Nightmare Altar and Sanctum of Loathing Ascension Trials.
How to confirm Biruta reached Lv. 3
Open Biruta in the Pets menu and look at the Pet Insight panel. It shows a soul counter toward the next level, for example “Lv. 1 (15/25)”. When you finish the 75-soul stage, the Owned Effect line should read HP +30, Critical Hit +2, Might +1, and the option to transform into Biruta becomes available. Biruta souls you collect after Lv. 3 turn into Blue Cogni Soul Crystals, so further Wanderer kills keep counting toward Cogni progress.
