Aion 2 has three superior consumables that matter in a fight. Superior Life Potion heals over time, Superior Life Serum heals instantly, and Superior Healing Potion cleanses status effects. None of them is sold by an NPC. You either buy them from other players on the Market Exchange or make them yourself through Alchemy. Each Alchemy recipe follows the same pattern: take the cheap merchant version of the potion, add one herb and one Professional Glass Bottle (Bound), and the result is the superior version.
Quick answer: Raise Alchemy into Professional rank. Then combine the basic potion, one herb, and one Professional Glass Bottle (Bound). Superior Life Serum needs mastery 55, and Superior Healing Potion needs mastery 60.
Superior Life Potion, Serum and Healing Potion recipes
Each recipe takes one of each of three ingredients. The herb depends on your faction for the serum and the healing potion. Elyos and Asmodians use different plants, but the slot each one fills is the same.

Each upgrade is a clear step up from the merchant version. Superior Life Serum restores a flat amount of HP plus 10 percent of your Max HP instantly, which is double the 5 percent from Life Serum (Bound). Superior Healing Potion removes two status effects instead of one. Neither potion removes Incapacitated. Superior Life Potion restores HP in ticks every two seconds over its duration rather than all at once.
Alchemy mastery, success rates, and material prices
Keep these figures open while you craft. The success rate is the base chance per attempt. The combo chance is the separate roll that can produce extra potions from a single craft.

All three ingredients are bound, but the finished superior potions are not. A crafted Superior Life Serum or Superior Healing Potion can be traded, and that is why both show up on the Market Exchange. You also cannot buy a Professional Glass Bottle (Bound) until your character reaches level 35.
How to level Alchemy to Professional rank
Superior recipes sit behind the Professional rank, so most of the work goes into leveling. Gem powders are the quickest way through Novice, because their only input is gemstones you can buy on the Market Exchange.
Where to buy the base potions and bottles
Two NPCs supply everything except the herbs. The General Goods Merchant sells Life Potion (Bound), Life Serum (Bound), and Healing Potion (Bound). You can spot one by the coin-bag icon above its name. General Goods Merchants stand at these locations:
- Altgard: Basfelt Waterfall, Graverobber Campsite, Shulak Street Stall
- Verteron: Canyon Campsite, Rock Hill Outpost, Alert Observation Post
- Chaotic Lower Reshanta: Latesran Western Root, Latesran Eastern Root
The Alchemy Merchant sells the Professional Glass Bottle (Bound). You’ll find one at Dawn Legion Base and Zumion Village in Verteron, at Safe Haven and Nornir Assembly in Altgard, and aboard both the Altgard Legion Airship and the Verteron Legion Airship.
The herbs come from gathering or from the Market Exchange. Aria and Fresh Targena can be gathered in the field or bought from other players. Fresh Aria also has a cheaper route, covered next.
Getting Fresh Aria (Bound) through Substance Morph
Fresh Aria tends to cost more than the Odyle it can be made from. Substance Morph turns a single Fine Odyle into one Fresh Aria (Bound), and the morph itself is paid for in Kina. Fine Odyle drops from ordinary Odyle nodes. These are Novice-grade nodes that need only gathering mastery 1, and they sometimes give a Poko’s Skin Bundle (Bound) as a bonus.
Crafting each superior potion
Once your mastery is high enough and the materials are in your bag, every craft is done from Crafting, then Alchemy, then Potions. Pick the recipe, confirm the three ingredients are lit up, and craft.
Superior Life Potion
Combine one Life Potion (Bound), one Aria, and one Professional Glass Bottle (Bound). Of the three recipes, this one has the cheapest base item, because Life Potion (Bound) is the lowest-priced recovery item at the General Goods Merchant.
Superior Life Serum
Combine one Life Serum (Bound), one Fresh Aria (or Fresh Azpha on Asmodian characters), and one Professional Glass Bottle (Bound). Life Serum (Bound) can be bought for 1,000 Kina or crafted from mastery 1, using a Fresh Aria or Fresh Azpha and a regular Glass Bottle (Bound).
Superior Healing Potion
Combine one Healing Potion (Bound), one Fresh Targena (or Fresh Calendula on Asmodian characters), and one Professional Glass Bottle (Bound). You need Alchemy mastery 60, the highest requirement of the three.
A successful craft puts the superior potion in your inventory and uses up the three ingredients. Not every attempt works. At a 72.9 percent base success rate, roughly one craft in four fails. Separately, the 25 percent combo roll can return extra potions from a single craft, so your final count rarely matches the number of attempts exactly.
Crafting vs. buying on the Market Exchange
Player prices move all the time, so the comparison is simple arithmetic. Add up the fixed merchant costs, add the current price of the herb, and compare the total with the lowest listing under Consumables, then Potions, on the Market Exchange.
- Superior Life Serum: 1,000 Kina serum + 1,200 Kina bottle + Fresh Aria
- Superior Healing Potion: 630 Kina potion + 1,200 Kina bottle + Fresh Targena
- Superior Life Potion: Life Potion (Bound) + 1,200 Kina bottle + Aria
Every ingredient set comes to at least 1,830 Kina before the herb is counted. Failed crafts also burn materials, so a listing only modestly above your material cost is often the better deal. The math shifts toward crafting when you supply the herb yourself, through gathering or by morphing Fine Odyle into Fresh Aria.
Free bound versions from quests and achievements
Bound versions are worth claiming before you spend any Kina. Superior Life Serum (Bound) comes from quest rewards and achievements and works exactly like the crafted serum, though it cannot be traded. Superior Life Potion is also handed out through quest rewards and the Daeva Pass subscription.
The base ingredients can come free too. Life Serum (Bound) drops from Daeva’s Campaign Supply Chest (Bound) and is given out through quests and achievements. Healing Potion (Bound) comes from quest rewards, Daeva’s Campaign Supply Chest (Bound), and Advance: Wishlist Chest. Any you collect this way lower the cost of each superior craft, since the base item is the one ingredient you would otherwise buy from the merchant.
