Mount Tai in Where Winds Meet has 13 Sentient Beings anecdotes. Most are quick conversations, but nearly every one is tied to a specific time window. That means you will spend as much time turning the in-game clock as you do walking. The anecdotes sit in four clusters: Cloudside Village, the Wayfarer (Eastern Peak) teleport, Rockspire Street, and a clifftop dining pavilion above it.
Quick answer: Talk to (or listen to) the NPCs below during their listed hours. Finish the Wandering Tale “Closer Than Family” first, or A Debt of Rebirth will not unlock.

Every Mount Tai anecdote is listed here with the person who triggers it and the hours when that person is in place. Change the time with the in-game clock before you approach each NPC.

Several windows overlap. A clock set to the late morning works for the Rockspire Street trio and Three Rules of Commerce, and the dumpling house pair accepts almost any daytime hour. The night visit to Cloudside Village handles both Zhang Mo’s patrol and A Macabre Rumor in one stop.
Cloudside Village anecdotes (seven entries)
More than half of the region’s anecdotes live in Cloudside Village, around its shoreline stalls, its dumpling house and the docks. Expect to visit twice, once in daylight and once after dark.
Mountain Vendors
Set the clock anywhere between 08:00 and 18:00, with noon being a safe pick, and walk the Cloudside Village shoreline. You need all three vendors. Talk to Li Qingxi at the umbrella stall, Tong Fugui at the fruit and vegetable stall, and Yun Jianhui at the stall by the dock. The anecdote unlocks once the third conversation is done.
A Debt of Rebirth and Close As Family
Both are found at the Cloudside Village dumpling house between 07:00 and 19:00. A Debt of Rebirth has a prerequisite. You must have completed the Wandering Tales quest Closer Than Family, which you can confirm in the Exploration menu. After that, speak with Old Man Liu outside the dumpling shop.
For Close As Family, stay in the same daytime window and talk to Li Kai. He is sitting at a table with Bai Zhu’er, and it is Li Kai you need.
Mountain Patrol Warrior
This one takes two conversations at two different times. Between 08:00 and 18:00, talk to He Dai outside the eatery. Then move the clock to night, anywhere from 20:00 to 06:00, and find Zhang Mo walking his patrol along the lantern-lit village path. Finish his dialogue to complete the entry.
A Macabre Rumor
While it is still night (20:00–06:00, with 24:00 recommended), go back to the outdoor tables by the tavern. Old Man Liu is sitting there by himself. Speak with him to unlock the anecdote.
Century-Old Eatery
Zhang Mo also has a morning route. Set the time to 07:00–11:00 and catch him on the dirt path running along the hillside above the dumpling shop. Talk to him while he walks.
The Newcomer
Go to the dock on the southwest side of Cloudside Village during daytime. Zhang Xin, a guide holding a booklet, is waiting there. One conversation unlocks the entry.
The Four Wonders at Wayfarer (Eastern Peak)
Fast travel to the Wayfarer (Eastern Peak) teleport and set the clock to 14:00–18:00. Zhang Hefu stands next to the stone archway on the cliff, overlooking the bay and the mountain. Talk to him to unlock The Four Wonders.
Rockspire Street anecdotes (08:00–12:00)
Three anecdotes share a single morning window on and just below Rockspire Street. Set the clock between 08:00 and 12:00 once and do them in this order.
Clifftop dining pavilion anecdotes
Climb the stone stairs to the clifftop dining pavilion, which overlooks the mountain. Two NPCs here use different hours.
- The Enduring Stone Steps: between 14:00 and 18:00, talk to the porter Li Jia at the center table.
- Three Rules of Commerce: between 08:00 and 12:00, talk to tea merchant Dong Cunli at the terrace table.
If you are coming straight from Rockspire Street with the clock still in the morning, speak with Dong Cunli first. Then move the time forward to the afternoon for Li Jia.
Confirming Mount Tai anecdote completion
Open the journal and go to Sentient Beings, then Mount Tai. That page shows every regional anecdote as either unlocked or locked, so a fresh unlock appears there as soon as the conversation or overheard rhyme finishes. Mountain Patrol Warrior is the one most likely to look stuck, because it stays locked until you have spoken to Zhang Mo at night after He Dai. When all 13 entries are unlocked, the Mount Tai Sentient Beings anecdote set is complete.
