Anime Origins Update 3.5, titled “The Liberation of Toy Kingdom,” adds a new awakening for the game’s version of Luffy. Luffo (Bouncy Man) is the Gear 4 Bounce Man form of the Mythic unit Luffo. Getting him takes two evolutions, a long quest line, and a trip to the Beli Shop. Once he’s on the field, he is a long-range splash damage dealer with a stack of crit-focused passives and a map-wide nuke.

Quick answer: Evolve Luffo into Luffo (Strawhat) with a 10,000 Beri Straw Hat, then into Luffo (Bouncy Man) with the Gum Gum Fruit from the 11-quest Bouncy Man quest line, plus remnants at each stage.

Luffo (Bouncy Man) in Anime Origins Update 3.5

Base Luffo is a Mythic pulled from the Pirate Piece Banner, which also features Smokade and Zolo. He has a two-stage evolution line, Luffo, then Luffo (Strawhat), then Luffo (Bouncy Man). The final evolution screen lists four concrete gains over the previous form.

  • +20% Damage
  • +2 New Upgrades
  • +1 New Passive
  • +1 New Attack

The new attack is King Kong Gun, an active ability you trigger manually. The rest of his kit is passive, built around range scaling, distance-based damage, random Haki buffs, and a stun that punishes weakened enemies.

Luffo evolution materials for both stages

Both evolutions happen at the Mokito Evolution station in the lobby. Each stage eats a pile of remnants plus one unique item, and the remnant counts shift between stages. The second step needs fewer Azure and Orchid Remnants but almost twice the Prismatic Remnants.

The Straw Hat is the easy part. It sits in the Beli Shop, under the Supernova Bounty Board shop, for 10,000 Beri. It’s also easy to forget. Finishing the entire quest line for the Gum Gum Fruit does nothing if the hat isn’t already in your inventory, because the Strawhat stage has to come first.

The second evolution swaps the Straw Hat for the Gum Gum Fruit and turns Luffo (Strawhat) into Luffo (Bouncy Man).

You know the final evolution worked when a short animated cutscene plays, showing Gear 4 Bounce Man Luffy fighting Doflamingo. Luffo (Bouncy Man) then appears in your unit inventory.

Bouncy Man quest line and the Gum Gum Fruit

The Gum Gum Fruit is the reward for the final entry in the Bouncy Man quest line, found in the Quest Lines menu. That final quest only completes once the 11 quests before it are done. Most hand out Pirate Tokens along with Trait Rerolls or Perfect Stat Prisms.

QuestObjectiveReward
Troublemaker IKill 8,000 enemies160 Pirate Tokens, 1 Trait Reroll

Two steps here depend on separate game systems. TOY-1, a new artifact dropped in Toy Kingdom Raid Act 3, provides the Toy Liberator’s Key. Refine TOY-1 to Ascendant rank, and the 10/10 pity guarantee awards the key. Use it from your inventory to access Liberation in Toy Kingdom, a fixed-deck stage that runs for 15 waves and has the Puppet Master as its boss.

Toy Kingdom’s Liberation includes flying enemies that purely ground-targeting units can’t hit. Fujitora’s Gravity Well ability slows enemies inside it and forces flying ones to walk, which makes them targetable.

The Zolo quests also go faster with his evolved form. Zolo (King of Hell) requires the Swordsman’s Bandana, another 10,000 Beri purchase in the Beli Shop.

Leveling Luffo (Bouncy Man) and the Immortal trait

A freshly evolved Luffo (Bouncy Man) still needs levels. Feeding him food items such as Ramen in the feeding menu takes him to level 70, the level his base stats below are measured at.

Traits matter a lot for this unit. By default you can place three copies of Luffo (Bouncy Man) per match. The Immortal trait, rolled at the Crylo Trait Reroll station, overrides that limit to one in exchange for large stat boosts.

  • +120% Damage
  • -20% Cooldown
  • +10 Range
  • Placement limit set to 1

Immortal is a rare roll, so expect to spend a large pile of Trait Rerolls. Update 3.5 launched with the codes Update3Half (60 Trait Rerolls) and BouncyMan (300 Pirate Tokens), and the quest line itself adds more rerolls along the way. The same update also rebalanced several traits. Overseer dropped from -5% to -3% SPA, Rupture gained +10% Damage, -10% SPA and Crit Damage up from 35% to 50%, and Decay gained +10% Damage and DoT Damage up from 20% to 40% while losing its 10% SPA reduction.

Luffo (Bouncy Man) passives and King Kong Gun

Luffo carries four passives. Two of them, Rubber Stretch and Rubber Stretch v2, are about reach. The other two add crits, debuff protection, and crowd control.

Passive & Skill Breakdown02:35Passive & Skill Breakdown
Rubber Stretch and Rubber Stretch v2 tie Luffo's range and damage to buffs and attack distance. Shown at 02:35 in Jeanz’s video. Image: Origins Project

Rubber Stretch

Luffo starts with 10% bonus Range and gains another 5% Range for every 10% Damage buff he receives, capping at 15% total. Past the cap, an “Overstretched” rule kicks in. Each additional 10% Damage buff becomes 20% Crit Damage, up to 60%. Buffs beyond the range cap still count for something.

Rubber Stretch v2

The farther Luffo’s attack lands from where he stands, the harder it hits. Damage scales up to 30% higher based on the distance to the attack’s target position, maxing out at 40 studs. Placing him back from the path pays off.

Haki

Every fifth attack, Luffo randomly awakens one of two Haki types. Armament Haki makes his next attack deal 20% more Damage and ignore 20% of the target’s Physical Resistance. Observation Haki stores a Foresight stack, up to five, with each stack granting 5% Crit Chance. When Luffo would be stunned or debuffed, one Foresight stack is spent to block it, and he counters with 15% lower Cooldown for 3 seconds.

There’s a mastery layer on top. With at least five Foresight stacks, Armament Haki attacks always crit, and a full Foresight bar makes every Haki roll Armament. A fully stacked Luffo ends up with 25% Crit Chance and guaranteed crits every fifth hit.

Emperor’s Colours

When an enemy walks into Luffo’s range, it becomes Overwhelmed if either condition is true. Its current Health is at or below 30% of its Max Health, or its Max Health is at or below 70% of Luffo’s Damage. Overwhelmed enemies are Stunned for 2 seconds and turn Brittle for 5 seconds, taking 10% more damage from every source. Each enemy can only be Overwhelmed by Emperor’s Colours once across the whole match.

King Kong Gun

King Kong Gun is the active ability, unlocked partway through the in-match upgrade path. It has global range and a 230-second cooldown. You pick a target spot anywhere on the map, and a giant fist deals 400% of Luffo’s Damage to every enemy in an area equal to 125% of his Range.

A different version of the tooltip has also shown up in matches, describing 600% Damage over an area equal to 50% of Range. The exact numbers may change between builds, so check the tooltip on your own copy.

Fully upgrading him costs a little over $114,000 across placement and ten upgrades. His attack shape changes along the way. He opens with a leaping Circle AoE, switches to a Line AoE at upgrade 3, and returns to a larger Circle AoE at upgrade 7.

The 150% Crit Damage and 25% Crit Chance at max come from his passives, not the upgrade path itself. Five Foresight stacks account for the crit chance, and Rubber Stretch’s Overstretched bonus feeds crit damage once outside buffs push him past the range cap. Luffo (Bouncy Man) is an expensive unit to build, from the quest grind and Immortal reroll to the $17k upgrade gating King Kong Gun. But he scales with nearly every buff you give him, and his single placement covers a lot of map.
