The Mechanic’s Shack key in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ opens one small building in Cheongun Village. Finding it is easy once you know the grid square. It pays off because the shack packs a lot of containers into one dark room.
Mechanic’s Shack key details
The key shows up in your inventory as “MECHANIC’S SHACK”. It is a RARE item of type KEY with a value of 100, and it sells for 100 from the stash. Its description gives you the location directly:
“F5 – Unlocks the mechanic’s shack south of the clinic within Cheongun Village.”
F5 is the grid square on the DMZ map, the same format other DMZ key cards use.

Carry the key in a secure slot. That way you keep it even if you lose your backpack.

Check your map and head to F5, along Cheongun Village’s southern edge. The shack sits below the village clinic. The same village holds the Heavenly Luck Casino, where the Counting Room Vault key opens the counting room. This small hut stands alone beside a low wall and paved path, separate from any larger building. At the entrance, make sure the HUD displays “Cheongun Village” and shows LOW as the threat level.

How to unlock the Mechanic’s Shack

Mechanic’s Shack loot and containers
The shack has one room, but it is full of things to search. Here is each container and an example of what it can hold:
| Container | Example contents |
|---|---|
| Footlockers by the entrance | Search both |
| Rifle case | COMMON: KG-7 VULCAN sniper rifle, value 1,100 |
| Near the ammo crates | Proximity Mine pickup |
| Armor box | — |
| Red tool chest | — |
| Military lockers | Armor Plate; SCREAMER MINE (tactical) |
| Military bag | — |
| Footlocker | UNCOMMON, VALUABLE: BALLISTIC FLIGHT LOGS, value 1000 |
| Shelf | POWER REGULATOR (EPIC, value 1500) |
| Duffel | — |

Free up backpack space before you go in. A full backpack blocks pickups and shows “BACKPACK FULL”.
The Power Regulator and Ballistic Flight Logs both pay off after you extract. The Power Regulator is an EPIC 3D PRINTER material; its card names the Sentry Gun and NVGs among its uses. Craft with the material using the 3D printer at your FOB. Ballistic Flight Logs count as a valuable, so sell them at the FOB after extraction.
