Enshrouded 1.0: Where to Find All 6 Pets and How to Tame Every Farm Animal

Locations for all three cats and three dogs, plus the Farmer bait, feeder and bed for all nine farm animal species.

Locations for all three cats and three dogs, plus the Farmer bait, feeder and bed for all nine farm animal species.

Enshrouded 1.0 has two kinds of tameable animals. Pets are six named cats and dogs that you keep at home. Farm animals are nine species that you keep for milk, eggs, feathers, scales, wool and bristles. Every one of them is tamed the same way, with bait crafted by the Farmer.

Quick answer: Tyger comes from Cat Search at Lone Thistle. Ruffles comes from Dog Search at Thornhold. The other four pets are in the Nomad Highlands and the Kindlewastes. Each animal is tamed with its own Farmer bait.

The six pets are three cats (Tyger, Captain Whiskers, Sapphire) and three dogs (Ruffles, Ikko, Pompom Jr.). Collecting all six completes the “Pets” item set for 1,500 XP. The nine farm animal species are the Common Goat, Frizzy Goat, Hophare, Fae Deer, Flightless Redtail, Round-Billed Sailer, Dune Armadillo, Yak and Capybara. The “Farm Animals” item set needs 18 entries, the adult and the baby of every species, and pays 2,000 XP. Every other set is listed in all 126 item sets and the XP each one gives.

How taming works

Pets and farm animals follow one rule set. Each animal has its own bait, and the bait item spells out the process:

“To tame an animal, approach it carefully while sneaking. Throw the bait food near the animal to attract its attention. Pet the animal while it’s feeding, and repeat the process until it is docile. Once tame, the animal can be picked up.”

Two pets are quest rewards: the Alchemist’s Cat Search leads to Tyger, while the Hunter’s Dog Search leads to Ruffles. Each quest next has you bring the pet home and make its bowl and bed. Cat Food and Dog Food recipes, along with the matching bowls and beds, apply to every one of the three cats and three dogs.

The Farmer makes everything involved. That covers bait at 10 per craft, food at 50 per craft, and the bowls, feeders and beds. None of these recipes uses Water. The rest of her list is in every Farmer recipe.

The other four pets have no associated quest; their item descriptions and nearby notes in the world provide the game’s only clues.

Tyger

Tyger lives in the Alchemist’s tower in Lone Thistle, in Revelwood. The Cat Search quest sends you there, and its full route is laid out further down. Its item text reads:

“This striped cat is a fearsome hunter, always on the prowl. It’s quiet, graceful, independent — and proud to present its spoils of war to you after a successful hunt! After a long day of adventuring though, it loves nothing more than to snuggle and sleep.”

Captain Whiskers

Captain Whiskers is a Scavenger cat in the Nomad Highlands. Look for the Scavenger note “Headquarters Of Captain Whiskers” about 140 m north-east of Myrtle Tombs. The note reads “Reminder: Not for eating until stated otherwise!!” The cat’s item text:

“The Scavengers that kept this cat were unsure whether to call it “Captain” or “Whiskers”.”

Sapphire

Sapphire’s pointer is in the Kindlewastes. The Scavenger note “Such A Rascal!” sits about 130 m south of Brittlebush and describes a cat running toward Sapphire Strand: “I’m not running after a cat all the way to Sapphire Strand!” The cat’s item text:

“Despite its angelic looks, this sugary sweet cinnamon-colored cat is a gleeful little rascal who likes getting into trouble! You can never be too mad, though. Just look at those beautiful, sapphire blue eyes!”

Ruffles

Ruffles is in Thornhold, a Revelwood town held by Scavengers, and the Dog Search quest leads you to it. A kennel note reading “Name: Ruffles” lies about 30 m south of Thornhold. The dog’s item text:

“A loud, energetic dog with sunny fur that yearns for connection. Its tail hasn’t stopped wagging ever since you freed it from its cage. The Scavengers that owned this dog previously called it “Ruffles”.”

Ikko

In the Nomad Highlands, Ikko is inside a tower controlled by Hollow hounds and a Hollow Warlock. Find the “Echoes Of Ikko” notes at the Abandoned Watchtower. The dog’s item text reads:

“You found this dog in a tower ruled by Hollow hounds, and a Hollow Warlock. The Warlock seemingly tried to create a vessel for a companion named “Ikko”. You interrupted their ritual — but the name stuck.”

Pompom Jr.

Pompom Jr. can be found inside an unoccupied home in the Kindlewastes. Gertrude’s note “My Little Pompom” is about 70 m south-east of Shorewatch and says “I’ve set up a small, cozy space in my basement for her.” The dog’s item text:

“A timid little fellow with spotted fur. It was found in an empty Kindlewastes home.”

Cat Search: How to get Tyger

Take Cat Search from the Alchemist. The first objective, “Craft Cat Food Bait”, explains why to look in Lone Thistle: “The Alchemist mentioned that his old home in Lone Thistle attracted cats because of a rat infestation. Even after all these years, there’s a chance that some cats still populate the area.”
Craft Cat Food Bait at the Farmer. One craft takes 2 Raw Lean Meat and 1 Lakehopper, Silverback or Shimmerfin, and it makes 10 bait.
Travel to Lone Thistle and go to the Alchemist’s tower above the Shroud. The objective “Reach The Alchemist’s Tower” reads: “You’ve crafted the cat food needed to tame a stray cat. Now go to Lone Thistle and search the Alchemist’s tower above the Shroud to find and tame a cat!”
Crouch toward the cat and toss bait beside it. Pet it as it feeds, then do this again until it becomes docile and you can pick it up.
Place Tyger in your home. Then craft its bowl and bed at the Farmer to finish the quest.

Dog Search: How to get Ruffles

Take Dog Search from the Hunter (if she is not at your base yet, see how to find the Hunter). The objective “Craft Dog Food Bait” sets it up: “The Hunter told you about a town that used to be overrun by stray dogs. Perhaps some dogs are still there.”
Craft Dog Food Bait at the Farmer. One craft takes 2 Raw Lean Meat, 2 Raw Game and 1 Purple Berries, and it makes 10 bait.
Head to Thornhold and search the town. The objective “Find The Dog In Thornhold” warns you about the occupants: “You’ve reached Thornhold, but the town has been claimed by Scavengers. Look around to find the stray dog!”
Tame the dog with the bait the same way you would tame a cat. When you can pick it up, Ruffles is yours.
Place Ruffles in your home. Then craft a Dog Bowl and a Dog Pillow to finish the quest.

Pet bait, food, bowls and beds

Every item in the table comes from the Farmer. The cat recipes work for all three cats, and the dog recipes work for all three dogs.

How to tame every farm animal

To tame a farm animal, prepare its bait. Some supplies work across species: Common Goats and Frizzy Goats use Goat Food Bait, Goat Food and the Goat Feeder. For Flightless Redtails and Round-Billed Sailers, the shared supplies are Bird Food Bait, Bird Food and the Bird Feeder.

What each farm animal gives you

  • Common Goat: “This animal can supply you with fresh milk.”
  • Frizzy Goat: “A mature Frizzy Goat that can provide milk.”
  • Flightless Redtail: “You can keep it in captivity indefinitely for eggs, and it can’t even fly away.”
  • Round-Billed Sailer: “A fully grown Round-Billed Sailer, willing to donate fresh feathers for your cause.”
  • Dune Armadillo: “This species constantly regenerates its outer shell, allowing for the collection of scales.” See how to get Scales.
  • Yak: “This woolly fellow grows a thick coat to weather the harsh climate of Albaneve Summits. It can be shaved for wool.” What the wool is for: how to get Wool from Yaks.
  • Capybara: “The bristles can be used in crafting.” See how to get Capybara Bristles.

Where to find goats, Yaks, Capybaras and Dune Armadillos

Several farm animals come with quests that tell you where to look and how to approach them.

  • Goat: the Animal Farming objective “Find, Feed And Tame A Goat” says “Wait for the goat to eat, and try to pet it while it is feeding to establish a bond. You will need to be close to pet the animal.”
  • Yak: The Gathering Wool In The Albaneve Summits quest marks a Yak location on your map. Under “Tame A Yak”, it adds: “There is a spot marked on your map where Yaks can be found, but you can complete the quest anywhere.”
  • Capybara: Gathering Capybara Bristles sends you to the Veilwater Basin and marks a spot on the map. Its step says: “The Farmer wants you to find and tame a Capybara in the Veilwater Basin. The bristles produced by this animal can be used in crafting.”
  • Baby Capybara: Capybara Search And Rescue rewards you with one. The “Avenge The Capybara” objective reads: “Find the nearby enemy camp and avenge the animal’s death! Perhaps you can even save some of its brethren in the process.”
  • Dune Armadillo: almost all of them are in the Kindlewastes, and a handful are in the Springlands.
