Enshrouded 1.0: How to Get Capybara Bristles

Tame a Capybara through the Farmer's quest for a steady supply, or loot them across the Veilwater Basin.

Tame a Capybara through the Farmer’s quest for a steady supply, or loot them across the Veilwater Basin.

In Enshrouded, Capybara Bristles are Common material, rated level 40, with a stack limit of 250. They come from Capybaras in the Veilwater Basin. For a steady supply, tame one and bring it to your base, where it will produce bristles. You can also loot them from dead Capybaras or chests in the Basin.

Quick answer: Talk to the Farmer to start “Gathering Capybara Bristles”, craft Capybara Bait, tame a Capybara in the Veilwater Basin, and carry it back to your base, where it produces Capybara Bristles from then on.

Where Capybara Bristles come from

Capybaras in the Veilwater Basin and tamed Capybaras at your base provide bristles.

  • A tamed Capybara at your base produces them for you.
  • Dead Capybaras lying in the Veilwater Basin hold 5 to 8 bristles each when you search them.
  • You may find them inside Veilwater Basin chests.

The quest “Capybara Search And Rescue” begins at a dead Capybara marked with Drak’Dal bite marks. The Capybara Oasis is marked on the interactive map.

Talk to the Farmer to start “Gathering Capybara Bristles”. The quest asks you to craft or obtain at least 3 Capybara Bait, and the Farmer makes it for you. Combine 1 Sugar Cane + 2 Paper Reed + 2 Algae per batch to get 10 Capybara Bait. The Veilwater Basin’s waters contain Algae, and this guide to gathering Paper Reed and Sugar Cane can help if you’re running low.

Tame a Capybara in the Veilwater Basin

Head to the Veilwater Basin. The quest recommends the Capybara Oasis as a taming location, though taming any Capybara will count.
Stay crouched as you move cautiously toward a Capybara, then toss bait close by to get its attention.
While the Capybara eats, give it pets. Keep repeating the steps until it grows docile.
After taming the Capybara, lift it up and transport it back to your home.

Keep the Capybara fed at your base

Place the Capybara at your base and it produces Capybara Bristles from then on. To keep it fed, build a Capybara Feeder from the Farmer using 7 Wood Logs and 2 Nails, then fill it with Capybara Food. The feeder feeds your animals whenever it holds the matching food.

What Capybara Bristles are used for

The item text reads: “These capybara bristles can be woven into your clothing to help you glide through the water more easily and prevent you from cooling down too quickly.” They feed into 40 recipes across several crafters, including armor that also uses Water Reptile Leather. You can check which sets unlock at each Flame level on the armor sets list.

Hunter, Alchemist and Blacksmith armor

The Hunter Skull Stalker, Quetzal Hunter and Bloodfeather sets, the Alchemist Tidecaller and Waveborne Ritualist sets, and the Blacksmith Golden Bulwark and Sunpiercer sets all follow the same per-piece counts.
