The Stray Cat Dragon is part of Adopt Me’s Halloween 2026 event, and getting it takes several steps across the map. The Halloween update notes list it as Legendary. You earn the item that unlocks it in the Crypt, you use that item at the Carnival entrance, and then you pay for the pet.
Quick answer: Collect Crypt Keys, then search Crypt coffins for Polymorphing Cat Food. With the food in hand, press E at the Stray Cat by the Carnival entrance. Interact with that pedestal once more using E to purchase the dragon for 120,000 Candy Corn.
Feeding the cat does not put a Stray Cat Dragon in your backpack. The food transforms the cat on its pedestal. The pet itself is a separate Candy Corn purchase.
Stray Cat Dragon requirements
- Crypt Keys. Each coffin in the Crypt uses one key.
- One Polymorphing Cat Food, found inside a Crypt coffin.
- 120,000 Candy Corn to buy the pet after the cat transforms.

Crypt Keys are available from two sources. Begin with the Halloween task board, shown as the Halloween widget along the left edge of your screen. Completing jobs like Lost Sock and “Wanna play a game?” awards keys.
The second is Ghost Gallery. Some rounds give a key and some don’t. When you earn one, the results screen shows “CRYPT KEY” under your Candy Corn total.
If you try a coffin without a key, it shows “You need a Crypt Key to open this…” and stays shut. Gather several keys before you go. The food may not show up in the first coffin you open.
Where to get Polymorphing Cat Food
The food comes from the coffins in the Crypt, a compact stone mausoleum beside the Manor, and the spawn signpost offers a direct route to it. Our Adopt Me Crypt guide covers every level, the ladders down and the Mummy Spider in full.

Other coffin rewards include Candy Corn, Headphones, a Twig, a Lost Sock, a Lightning Lever, and ladders leading to lower levels. Ours came from the coffin beside the red window at the far end of Lower Level I, the first hall, on the third key we used there after a Crypt reset. Before that reset, none of the coffins we opened on Lower Levels I to IV gave the food, so plan to use several keys.
Claiming the Mummy Spider at the bottom of the Crypt resets it. The game shows “The Crypt has been reset! Come back with more Crypt Keys to get more rewards!” after that, and the coffins can be opened again.
To check the food, open the Halloween tab in your Backpack. The card reads “Polymorphing Cat Food,” marked Rare, with the line “The Stray Cat in town center would love this.” It also shows “Uses Left: 1” and “[Untradable]”, and the tile has a Limited tag.

Leaving the game and rejoining returns the food to your backpack, rather than keeping it in your hand. Equip it again before going to the cat. While equipped, it occupies a hotbar slot beside the backpack button.
Stray Cat location: The Carnival entrance
The item card says “town center”, but the Stray Cat is not on the spawn plaza. It sits at the Carnival entrance. The dark cat face with yellow eyes in the boarded window to the right of the Manor’s front door is only decoration and does nothing when you use the food on it.
Use the spawn signpost again and select Carnival from the “Where do you want to go?” menu. You’ll arrive on red carpet before a large skull-shaped arch. On its right, round pedestals striped in black and white display floating labels for “Stray Cat”, “Jester Dragon”, and “Stitches”.

At the row’s far end, beside a large glowing jack-o’-lantern, the Stray Cat is the small dark cat on its pedestal. The Jester Dragon’s pedestal is immediately next to it, while Stitches is farther along the row.
The pedestal platform is next to the green goo. Walking off its far edge drops you in.
How to feed the Stray Cat

It worked if “The Stray Cat devoured the Polymorphing Cat Food!” appears on screen and a speech bubble starting with “Mew…” pops up over the cat. The label then changes from “Stray Cat” to “Stray Cat Dragon”, and the model becomes a dark cat with spiky dark wings and horns. It stays a Stray Cat Dragon after you leave and rejoin. The food is used up and disappears from both your hotbar and your backpack.

Buying the Stray Cat Dragon for 120,000 Candy Corn
Feeding the cat does not give you the pet. After feeding, the Pets tab of our backpack had no Stray Cat Dragon in it.

To get it, press E at that same pedestal again. The box asks “Buy Stray Cat Dragon for 120000 Candy Corn?” and offers Cancel and Buy. Select Buy to spend 120,000 Candy Corn. We had 78,526 Candy Corn at that point, so we pressed Cancel and did not buy it.

Other Carnival pedestals next to the Stray Cat
The same row of pedestals sells other Halloween items. Pressing E on the Stitches pedestal opens “Buy Stitches for 70000 Candy Corn?”

An accessory pedestal in the row opens a preview with arrows that cycle through three items, all priced in Candy Corn.
| Accessory | Rarity | Candy Corn |
|---|---|---|
| Prop Whip | Uncommon | 1,950 |
| Jester Dragon Mask | Ultra-Rare | 8,100 |
| Stitches Neck Ruffle | Rare | 5,000 |

The Jester Dragon pedestal works differently. It opens a Robux offer that reads “Unlocks the Legendary Jester Dragon!” with No Thanks and Get it now! buttons, not a Candy Corn price.

We will update this guide if we see these in play:
- Whether the cat changes only for you or for everyone on the server.
- Whether you can buy the Stray Cat Dragon without feeding the cat first. We only saw the buy box after feeding.
- What happens if you press E on the Stray Cat without the food, or the trade of 50 Candy Corn for normal food that some players mention.
- The bought pet itself: its age, whether it can be traded, and its rarity in game (the update notes list it as Legendary).
- Whether the food always sits in the same coffin, and whether the cat moves to other spots on other days.
Stray Cat Dragon FAQ
How do you get the Stray Cat Dragon in Adopt Me?
Open Crypt coffins with Crypt Keys until one gives Polymorphing Cat Food, hold the food and press E on the Stray Cat at the Carnival entrance, then press E on the same pedestal and buy the Stray Cat Dragon for 120,000 Candy Corn.
What does Polymorphing Cat Food do?
It turns the Stray Cat into the Stray Cat Dragon. Hold it and press E at the cat’s pedestal; the game says “The Stray Cat devoured the Polymorphing Cat Food!” and the label changes to Stray Cat Dragon. It has one use and is untradable.
Where is the Stray Cat in Adopt Me?
At the Carnival entrance, on a striped pedestal next to a big jack-o’-lantern, in the same row as the Jester Dragon and Stitches pedestals. Take the spawn signpost to Carnival. The food’s card says “town center”, but the cat was not on the spawn plaza, and the cat face in the Manor window is decoration.
Do you get the Stray Cat Dragon for feeding the cat?
No. Feeding only transforms the cat on its pedestal; no pet went into our backpack. You then buy the pet on that pedestal.
How much is the Stray Cat Dragon?
120,000 Candy Corn. The box on its pedestal reads “Buy Stray Cat Dragon for 120000 Candy Corn?”.
