The in-game description reads:
“Its shimmering blade is as thin as a cicada’s wing. Once thrown, it never misses its mark.”
The lore line ties the weapon to Quick Hand Zhang:
“An exquisite willow-leaf throwing dagger acquired from Quick Hand Zhang.”

Even with that lore connection, the map pin for Flying Dagger sits near the Thieves’ Camp bell in Crimson Forest.
Flying Dagger arts
The Flying Dagger has seven arts. Arts with a weapon-level requirement become available as the Phantom Edge gains levels, through the forge and weapon upgrades.
| Art | Unlocks | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Poisoned Blades | Base art | “Attacks inflict Poison buildup.” |
| Quickhand Mastery | Tempering art | “Increases the number of daggers thrown and enhances the Poison effect.” |
| Ranged Shot | Field ability | “Once obtained, it can shoot down certain hanging objects at medium to long range, even when not equipped.” |
| Quickhand Step | Weapon level 5 | “While attacking with the Flying Dagger, press [Dodge] to Teleport, then throw the dagger at enemies. This move does not interrupt the current combo.” |
| Unerring Throw | Weapon level 10 | Lv. 1: When a locked-on enemy is within range, as indicated by a special glow on the lock-on icon, Flying Dagger damage and Sha-Chi Depletion are slightly increased. Lv. 2: When a locked-on enemy is within range, as indicated by a special glow on the lock-on icon, Flying Dagger damage and Sha-Chi Depletion are moderately increased. Lv. 3: When a locked-on enemy is within range, as indicated by a special glow on the lock-on icon, Flying Dagger damage and Sha-Chi Depletion are greatly increased. |
| Shadowless Step | Weapon level 15 | “While using the Flying Dagger, if attacked by an enemy, Teleport to negate the damage from that attack, then throw the dagger at the enemy.” |
| Windborne Step | Weapon level 25 | “Press [Block]+[Phantom Edges] to enter a high-speed movement state. Leaves behind 1 Phantom Double for every set distance traveled, up to a maximum of 4. When the state ends, Soul and all Phantom Doubles attack the target together. Consumes 1 Remnant Spark” |
What Flying Dagger is good for
Flying Dagger is a ranged Phantom Edge. Its Ranged Shot field ability lets you hit targets from a distance, and it works on certain hanging objects even when the dagger is not equipped. Poisoned Blades adds Poison buildup to the throws, and Quickhand Mastery increases the number of daggers and strengthens that Poison.
Most of its level arts are dodge steps. Quickhand Step and Shadowless Step both Teleport you and then throw the dagger, while Windborne Step turns into a high-speed movement state that leaves Phantom Doubles behind. If you want another ranged option to compare it with, the Feather Bow is also a ranged Phantom Edge, and the roundup of best weapons early on covers where it fits in your early loadout.
