Quick answer: Version 1.0302256, released November 4, adds two hit-sound audio options and Interact / Talk remapping on PC, makes Hua, Deadly Betrothed grab less often on Wayfarer and Pathbreaker, cuts PC shader compile times and fixes progression bugs.

When the update came out

S-GAME posted the patch notes for Version 1.0302256 on Steam on November 4, 2026 (official patch notes on Steam).

According to the developer, the update brings audio and control choices, performance gains, combat changes and fixes for bugs.

Steam downloads the update on its own the next time the game updates. The notes say some third-party mods are not compatible with this update, and to remove any installed mods if problems start after updating.

New features

Two additions to the audio menu are “Hit Sound Intensity” and “Hit Impact Sound Intensity”. These controls adjust hit-audio levels independently of the other audio. The audio tab already had Weapon Clash Tone and Weapon Clash Intensity sliders (weapon clash sound settings).

The patch adds the ability to reassign “Interact / Talk” on PC, whether you’re using a keyboard or controller. See the full Phantom Blade Zero controls.

Improvements and adjustments

Performance is better in certain areas. The patch does not name the areas.

Combat behavior has changed for some bosses and enemies, and some environmental mechanisms have also been altered; the patch notes don’t identify them.

On Wayfarer and Pathbreaker, Hua, Deadly Betrothed is less likely to use grab attacks. Hellwalker and 66 Days are not affected (Hua, Deadly Betrothed boss fight).

The response to weapon hits has been refined, while the levels of some sound effects and dialogue have been changed.

The patch revises weapon and selected skill descriptions, as well as the icons for controller buttons.

PC changes

Initial shader processing now takes less time, and the game no longer compiles Ray Tracing shaders by default at launch. More on the compile screen is in the shader compiling guide.

With Ray Tracing disabled during your previous session, the first post-patch launch triggers a shader rebuild once. S-GAME says it finishes quickly.

Players who had Ray Tracing enabled can enter the game without waiting for shader compilation. If you turn Ray Tracing on later, its shaders compile separately the next time you restart the game.

Bluetooth-connected controllers now cause less stuttering. Graphics options are covered in the best PC settings.

NVIDIA Reflex functions with V-Sync enabled when its setting is “Auto”.

Bug fixes

The update resolves problems that could block progress in certain situations.

The update addresses locations where Soul could become trapped.

The patch resolves several combat problems and fixes assorted visual and cutscene errors.

On some AMD graphics cards running specific driver versions, character hair now displays correctly.

What the update means for you

If you were stuck on Hua, Deadly Betrothed on Wayfarer or Pathbreaker, her grab attacks now come up less often in that fight.

On PC with Ray Tracing disabled, the first launch after the update includes a single shader compilation.

In our run, the ending, the post-game fights and the boss guides written from November 4 on were all played on this version.
