The Dream Sprite is one of the standout Legendary sprites in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3, also known as Fortnite Runners. Unlike combat-focused sprites, it pays out loot as you play, building toward a Legendary drop once it hits max level. Getting it into your permanent collection takes two things: finding one on the island and extracting it before the match ends.
Quick answer: Pick up the Dream Sprite where it spawns on the map, in chests, in Sprite Chests, near Extraction Sites, or inside a Sprite Vault, then carry it to an Extraction Site and call in the extraction canister. Once extracted, you can summon it again before any match using Sprite Dust.
What the Dream Sprite does
The Dream Sprite is a Legendary-rarity sprite that rewards you with loot as it levels up. Every time it gains a level, it grants a random item, and reaching its maximum level produces a burst of Legendary loot. Sprites max out at level 5, so the big payout lands once you fully level it during a match.
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Legendary |
| Passive effect | Grants a random item at each level |
| Max level reward | Burst of Legendary loot at max level (5) |
| Inventory cost | Takes its own dedicated sprite slot when equipped |
You level a sprite by opening chests, eliminating opponents, and extracting other sprites at Extraction Sites while the Dream Sprite is equipped. The higher the level, the closer you get to that Legendary drop, so keeping it equipped through the early and mid game is the fastest way to reach level 5.
Where to find the Dream Sprite
Sprites are scattered across the island and appear through several methods. The Dream Sprite is Legendary, so it spawns at higher-tier spots and is harder to come across than the starter sprites. These are the ways to encounter it during a match.
- Wandering around the world at random locations, where you can walk up and pick it up.
- By chance when opening chests, or guaranteed inside Sprite Chests found at POIs and in Vaults.
- Near Extraction Sites, where sprites can appear as you approach.
- Inside a Sprite Vault, which holds high-rarity loot and many sprites, including rarer types.
To reach a Sprite Vault, look for a Legendary Vault Keycard that drops from rare chests. The keycard opens the vault, which is one of the more reliable places to come across higher-rarity sprites if you have not found them in the open world yet.
Once you spot one, press the interact button to stow it in your inventory. Equipping it activates the passive effect and displays the sprite on your back.
How to extract and keep the Dream Sprite
Finding the Dream Sprite is only half the job. If you do not extract it or win the match while carrying it, you lose the sprite and any leveling progress you made. Extraction banks it into your Sprite Collection so you can use it in future matches.
You will also extract any sprite you are still holding when you win the round, so surviving to a Victory Royale secures the Dream Sprite without a manual extraction.
How to confirm the Dream Sprite is unlocked
After a successful extraction, the Dream Sprite is saved to your Sprite Collection. From there you can summon a fresh copy before a match by spending Sprite Dust, either in the main lobby or on the end screen after a game. Note that a summoned sprite starts back at level 1, so you rebuild its levels each match.
Extracting the Dream Sprite also unlocks it as a pilot style for The Guardian, the mech suit piloted by a sprite, for Battle Pass owners. If the sprite appears as a selectable pilot or as a summon option in your collection, the extraction worked.
The most common reason players lose the Dream Sprite is leaving the site before the canister fully lands, or dying during the loud 30-second extraction window. Plan the extraction when the area is clear, since the noise draws other players to your position.
