Nightmare: Adam Smasher is the Overlord-class boss added with the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners crossover in Wuthering Waves Version 3.4. The cyborg merc from Night City rewards Resonator Ascension materials and a 4-Cost Echo, and you can face him either as a repeatable world boss or through a tougher Tactical Hologram challenge.
Quick answer: Finish the collab quest At Dream’s Edge, then enter the Somnoire Door in Etching Plains (Lahai-Roi) to fight Adam Smasher. Dodge his dashes, missile barrages, and the airborne crush, and bring a team that applies Hack – Shifting to exploit his weakness.

Adam Smasher location in Wuthering Waves
The fight is not inside Night City itself. It sits in the Etching Plains area of Lahai-Roi, reachable through a Somnoire Door. Travel to the marked spot and interact with the door to drop into the boss arena.
You must progress the Collaboration Story At Dream’s Edge to unlock the encounter in this location. The same quest opens up Somnoire: Night City, the limited-time event zone built from Lucy’s memories.
Note: If you have not finished the collab story yet, you can still fight him early. Open the Guidebook, go to Material Collection, then Boss Challenge, and start Adam Smasher through the Limited-Time Early Access option. A separate Nightmare Challenge event also lets you battle him across multiple stages and earn a 5-star Echo.

Adam Smasher hits hard with a mix of melee rushes, ranged fire, and a high-damage slam. The world boss version is manageable, but the Tactical Hologram adds a Sandevistan phase that punishes greedy attacks. Learn the tells below and dodge on reaction.

Basic combo
He opens by dashing straight at you, which can knock you down if it connects. He usually dashes twice and finishes with an uppercut that deals area-of-effect damage. Dodge through both dashes and reset your spacing before the uppercut lands.
Barrage
Adam pulls out his rifle and fires at range. Bullet damage is low, but it can chip you down if your HP is already short. He can also launch a barrage of missiles that hits a bit harder, so keep moving while they track you.
Sandevistan (Tactical Hologram only)
In the Tactical Hologram fight, Adam activates his Sandevistan when his HP drops low. He becomes extremely agile, darting around the arena and chaining quick hits before leaping onto a building to crush you. Dodge every attack during this window and do not try to retaliate, because he takes no damage while it is active.

Crush
His signature Edgerunners move has him jump high into the air, fire his rifle on the way up, and then slam down to crush you. Watch his descent and dodge the moment he comes down to avoid heavy damage.
Best teams to defeat Adam Smasher
Most premium DPS units can clear this fight, but the collab pair has a built-in edge. Lucy and Rebecca inflict Hack – Shifting, a status Adam is weak to, which speeds up the encounter considerably.
- Lucy, Rebecca, Shorekeeper
- Lynae, Mornye, Aemeath
- Chisa, Aemeath, Denia
- Hiyuki, Lynae, Chisa
- Luuk Herssen, Mornye, Lynae
Adam Smasher rewards and drops
Defeating Adam Smasher yields progression materials plus his exclusive Echo. The key item is the Nightmare Flashdrive, an Ascension material used to level up Lucy and Rebecca, so farm it once the boss is available in Version 3.4.
| Reward | Use |
|---|---|
| Nightmare Flashdrive | Ascension material for Lucy and Rebecca |
| Reminiscence – Nightmare: Adam Smasher | 4-Cost Overlord Echo |
| Advanced Sealed Tube | Weapon and gear material |
| Advanced Resonance Potion | Character growth material |
| Advanced Energy Core | Upgrade material |
| Union EXP / Intimacy | Account and bond progression |
| Shell Credit | In-game currency |
| Standard Weapon Mold | Weapon crafting material |
Reminiscence – Nightmare: Adam Smasher Echo
The boss drops a 4-Cost Overlord Echo that belongs to the Shadow of Shattered Dreams set. Its 1-piece bonus grants 35% Basic Attack DMG and Heavy Attack DMG for 15 seconds after inflicting Hack – Shifting on a target. The Echo Skill also changes depending on who wields it.
| Wielder | Echo Skill effect |
|---|---|
| Other Resonators | Machine gun attacks against enemies |
| Lucy | Spectro damage with a movement state that slows time, similar to a Sandevistan |
| Rebecca | A series of homing missiles dealing multi-hit Electro damage |
You know the fight is finished when the arena clears and the rewards screen appears, granting your materials and a chance at the 5-star version of the Echo through the Nightmare Challenge event. If Adam refuses to take damage, check whether his Sandevistan phase is active in the Tactical Hologram, since attacks during that window are wasted. Stick to dodging until it ends, then resume your rotation to bring him down.
