The Brotherhood’s Plan is the opening main quest of Chapter 2 in the Gothic 1 Remake, and it sends you out of your home faction and into the Swamp Camp to track down an insider named Caine. It looks like an information-gathering job, but Caine has gone missing, so the quest really exists to hand you off to the next objective. How it begins depends on whether you joined the Old Camp or the New Camp.
Quick answer: Travel to the Swamp Camp southeast of the Old Camp, climb to the Alchemy Laboratory, and speak with Cor Kalom about Caine. Because Caine has vanished, talking to Cor Kalom completes The Brotherhood’s Plan and immediately starts The Lost Apprentice.

How to unlock The Brotherhood’s Plan
This quest only appears if you joined the Old Camp or the New Camp at the end of Chapter 1. If you joined the Swamp Camp instead, you skip it entirely and begin Chapter 2 with The Lost Apprentice after you speak with Cor Kalom. The quest giver and starting steps change based on your faction.

Old Camp route

New Camp route

Reaching the Alchemy Laboratory in the Swamp Camp
The Swamp Camp sits southeast of the Old Camp. There are no quest markers or mini-map in the game, so navigation matters. When you arrive, take the left path, then bear left again and follow the trail until you spot people sitting near a tree. Move around them, continue straight, then take a right, and another right, and you will reach the staircase tied to the Alchemy Laboratory.

If the route is hard to follow, look for a Novice who offers the “I’m looking for…” dialogue option. Mention the alchemy laboratory and let them lead you straight there.
At the top of the stairs a Templar blocks the entrance. Tell him you know Caine from the outside, and he lets you pass through to Cor Kalom.

Tip: Before you climb the stairs, consider visiting Fortuno, a Swamp Camp merchant who sells Dreamcall. That item gives you a way to get past a guard later in this questline, so picking it up now saves a return trip.

How to confirm the quest is complete
You know The Brotherhood’s Plan is done the moment your conversation with Cor Kalom ends and The Lost Apprentice appears in your journal. Because Caine cannot be found, there is no separate hand-in for the original objective. The questline moves forward on its own from that dialogue.

If the new quest does not show up, you most likely talked to the wrong person or never got past the Templar. Make sure you reached Cor Kalom inside the Alchemy Laboratory and chose the line about knowing Caine from the outside. Keep in mind that characters wander on a free schedule rather than standing in fixed spots, so if Cor Kalom is not where you expect, wait or search the immediate area.
What comes after The Brotherhood’s Plan
Finishing The Lost Apprentice and reporting back to your camp leader pushes you into a chain of jobs for the Swamp Camp. Whether you report to Raven in the Old Camp or Lares in the New Camp, you are told to keep working for the Brotherhood to build trust. The objectives run in a set order.

| Order | Quest |
|---|---|
| 1 | The Lost Apprentice |
| 2 | Y’berion |
| 3 | The Focus Stone |
| 4 | The Almanac |
| 5 | The Minecrawler Nest |
| 6 | The Great Awakening |
Treat The Brotherhood’s Plan as the doorway into Chapter 2 rather than a standalone task. The real work begins with finding out what happened to Caine, and once that thread is pulled, the rest of the Swamp Camp questline opens up one objective at a time.
