The Division 2 Y8S2 Into the Dark: Scout 1 HVT Manhunt Solutions

The first Scout mission in Year 8 Season 2 of The Division 2, Into the Dark, is a hunt for a High-Value Target that you must finish to keep the seasonal Manhunt moving toward its finale. It went live on June 16, 2026, and breaks down into three clues, all of which point you to a single agent and a single district.

Quick answer: Talk to Manny Ortega on the second floor of the White House, complete two Public Execution activities in Downtown East, then finish the Jackal bounty in the same district to clear Scout 1.

Scout 1 clues and objectives

Each clue resolves into one concrete activity. Before you can open the Scout clues, the Manhunt screen will prompt you to finish the Briefing mission, so handle that first. The three tasks can be tackled back to back since they sit close together east of the White House.

1. Talk to Manny at the White House

Head to the White House Base of Operations and climb the lobby stairs to the second floor. Manny Ortega’s office sits on the left.

Interact with Manny to trigger a short cutscene. This is the entry step that unlocks the rest of the Scout clues, so there is no riddle to decipher beforehand. The objective clears as soon as the conversation ends.

2. Complete two Public Executions in Downtown East

The second task asks you to save captured civilians, which means clearing two Public Execution activities. These only count in the Downtown East district, which lies to the east and right next to the White House.

Travel to a Public Execution marker inside Downtown East and take out the first wave of hostiles before they execute the two targets.

Hold the area when reinforcements arrive and keep the hostages alive. Repeat the activity once more so you complete two Public Executions in total.

3. Eliminate the Jackal bounty target

The final clue points to the High-Value Target, Jackal. The bounty appears in the Bounties menu, which you reach by scrolling right from the map screen and selecting the Downtown East listings. It is set at Normal difficulty and can be cleared solo.

Open the Bounties tab, pick Jackal from the Downtown East list, and fast travel to the Final Epiphany safe house. From there, run to the marked bounty area.

Fight through three waves of enemies across three separate spaces as you push deeper into the area. After the last wave, Jackal spawns alongside several elite enemies.

Take down Jackal and the elites to close out the bounty and the final objective of Scout 1.

How to know Scout 1 is complete

Once Jackal is down, all three Scout clues register as complete and the Manhunt progresses. A voice recording between a Division Agent and a civilian researcher plays automatically, discussing the Dark Zone and why SHD Agents have stayed away from it. That audio is your confirmation that the week’s HVT hunt is finished.
