Best Caduceus Build in The Division 2 (Y8S2 Into the Dark)

Turn the new exotic assault rifle into a crit-fueled group healer with the right Striker's gear and talents.

Turn the new exotic assault rifle into a crit-fueled group healer with the right Striker’s gear and talents.

The Caduceus is the new exotic assault rifle in The Division 2 Year 8 Season 2: Into the Dark, and it rewards aggressive shooting with passive healing for your whole squad. If you upgraded to the premium season pass, it may already be sitting in your stash. Free-pass players unlock it later in the season by climbing the reward track. The build below squeezes the most out of its critical-hit healing talent without sacrificing damage.

Quick answer: Stack critical hit chance, critical hit damage, and assault rifle damage on a Striker’s Battlegear core with Unit Alloys support pieces, run the Gunner specialization, and let the Caduceus talent heal you and allies for 3% of every critical hit’s damage.

Caduceus exotic stats and talent

The Caduceus carries Assault Rifle Damage and Health Damage as its first two core attributes. The third core slot rolls at random, but you can adjust it at the tinkering station if you want a specific stat. Its fixed attachments are tuned entirely around landing and rewarding critical hits.

The exotic talent, also named Caduceus, repairs you and nearby allies for 3% of each critical hit’s dealt damage. Two things drive that healing. More critical hits mean more frequent repairs, and higher weapon damage means each repair is larger. That is why the build leans hard into crit chance, crit damage, and raw assault rifle damage. Accuracy and stable, uninterrupted fire matter too, since a missed shot heals no one.

Best gear loadout for the Caduceus

This loadout pairs Striker’s Battlegear with Unit Alloys to push damage and rate of fire while keeping the crit stats high. The goal is a DPS-forward setup where healing happens automatically as you fire.

SlotRecommended piece and why
BackpackStriker’s Battlegear. Striker’s Gamble adds 0.65% total damage per stack, up to 100 stacks. With the Striker’s Pack, Risk Management raises that to 0.90% per stack.
ChestPalisade Steelworks for the two-piece bonus of +10% armor on kill and +60% health on kill. The Equalizer named chest is a strong alternative, with Perfect Obliterate adding 1% weapon damage for 10 seconds, stacking up to 24 times.
HolsterSalvo or Unit Alloys for +5% Rate of Fire and +20% Assault Rifle Damage. Roll the rest toward damage, crit, and rate of fire.
KneepadsStriker’s Battlegear rolled for weapon damage and crit chance/damage.
GlovesA second Unit Alloys or Striker’s Battlegear piece, weighted toward crit chance, base damage, and crit damage.
MaskStriker’s Battlegear or Unit Alloys, again prioritizing crit chance and base damage.

Note: This build deliberately trades armor for output, so your survivability comes from the Caduceus heal rather than a tanky armor pool. Keep firing to keep healing.

Skills and specialization

Because the build ignores armor, your skill choices act as a safety net. Two gadgets cover the gaps when a fight turns against you.

  • Reviver Hive: A reliable backup that brings you back if you go down, which matters in a setup with no armor cushion.
  • Defender drone: Deflects and reduces incoming fire, helping you hold onto health long enough for crit healing to top you back up.

Run the Gunner specialization since this is a damage-focused setup. If you have not finished the specialization tree, funnel points into assault rifle damage first. You can skip seasonal modifiers for now, though that may shift as the season develops.

How to confirm the build is working

You will know the setup is performing when your own health bar repairs as you land critical hits, and allies near you receive the same healing during sustained fire. Higher crit chance means the heal triggers more often, while higher crit damage and weapon damage make each tick larger. If healing feels weak, check that your crit chance and crit damage rolls are high and that you are landing hits rather than missing.

With the Caduceus locked in, the season still has more to offer. The first week of scout missions is live, giving you a high-value target to track down and eliminate for additional rewards as Into the Dark continues.
