The exact path to the chest that hands you the Red Ribbon and unlocks ribbon gear for your party.

The Red Ribbon is one of the first pieces of equipment you can grab in Deltarune Chapter 5, and it sits just off the main route in the flower-themed Dark World. Picking it up does more than add an item to your bag. It switches on the ability to equip ribbons across your party, so it is worth the short detour even though it is easy to walk straight past.

Quick answer: After your first Dark World battle in Kris’ father’s flower shop, head south to a fork and take the left path instead of the right. Open the treasure chest there to claim the Red Ribbon.

How to reach the Red Ribbon chest

The ribbon lives in the Dark World that opens inside the flower shop run by Kris’ dad. You reach it after clearing the opening festival stretch in Hometown, so there is no way to grab the item early.

Progress through the festival in Hometown until the Dark World appears at Kris’ father’s flower shop. Kris drops his heart and then retrieves it as Susie pushes the pair into the realm.
Inside, meet the character named Flowery during the cutscene with Kris’ dad. When the two of them vanish, you continue on with Kris and Susie, and Ralsei joins the group shortly after.

Keep moving along the path until your first fight begins. It is a simple encounter against two basic enemies, so defeat both to continue.
Once the battle ends, head south until the route splits into two paths. The right path pushes the story forward, so ignore it for now and take the path on the left.
Follow the left path to the treasure chest waiting at the end. Open it to receive the Red Ribbon, which is added straight to your inventory.

How to confirm you have the Red Ribbon

You know the pickup worked when the Red Ribbon drops into your inventory automatically after opening the chest. Ralsei then steps in to explain that you can equip ribbons to your companions, the same way ribbons worked back in the first chapter.

That explanation is the real payoff. Grabbing the ribbon unlocks the ability to slot ribbons onto your party members, so the gain extends beyond a single armor piece. It is also strong for the early part of the chapter, which makes the short trip down the left path worth taking before you push ahead with the story.

Why players miss the Red Ribbon

The single reason people skip this item is the fork after the first fight. Taking the right path immediately continues the chapter and seals off the easy backtrack, leaving the chest untouched on the left. If you have already moved past the split, return to the fork and take the left branch before going further.
