Evolving a unit in Anime Story 2 raises its stats and pushes up your total Combat Power, but every evolution depends on the right material. More than 20 units can be evolved, and each one needs either a basic Star, a special Orb, or a unit-specific item pulled from a particular Story Stage, Raid, or Tower.
Quick answer: Basic materials like Yellow, Purple, and Rainbow Stars come from clearing Challenges or buying them in the Coin Shop. Unit-specific evolution items drop from set Story Stages, are bought in Raid Shops with that raid’s tokens, or drop from Towers.
Where evo items come from in Anime Story 2
Evolution materials split into two groups. Secondary materials are shared across many units and are easy to stockpile. Unit-specific materials are tied to one character’s evolution and only appear in a fixed source.
- Story Stages: Some materials only drop from a specific stage, such as Green Planet VII or the Realm Seven V stage.
- Raid Shops: Several items are bought with raid tokens instead of dropping randomly, so you grind the raid for tokens and spend them.
- Towers: Tower clears produce items like Ascended Orbs and the Fairy Spirit.

Stars and Orbs as secondary materials
Many evolutions need a unit-specific item plus a stack of basic materials. Stars cover most of that secondary cost and are the easiest to farm, since Challenges hand them out and the Coin Shop sells them outright. Mythic Orbs and Secret Orbs serve the same role for higher-end evolutions, but they only come from Daily, Weekly, and Exclusive Quests, so plan around the quest reset rather than grinding stages.
Note: The Meteor that evolves Dior into Maid Dior is not part of normal progression. It only appears during an Admin Abuse event, so you cannot farm it through Stages, Raids, or the shop.
How to use evo items efficiently
Once you have every required material, the unit’s evolved form unlocks and replaces the base version with higher stats. The evolution will not trigger if you are missing the unit-specific item or fall short on the Star or Orb requirement, so check both before attempting it. Head to the exact source for the unit you care about, secure the item, and you can start clearing tougher content with a stronger roster.
