Beneath the Lunar Sea is a short World Quest set in the Moontide Sea area of Nod-Krai. It leans entirely on two local mechanics, the Ancient Moon Pearl and Archaeolune Energy, and once you understand how they interact the puzzles fall into place quickly. Finishing it hands over Primogems and chest loot, and it opens the Curtain-Form Blackbody Containment Lab as a meeting point where you can offer Luna Sigils.
Quick answer: Approach the jellyfish beside the cave at the Curtain-Form Blackbody Containment Lab in southern Moontide Sea to auto-start the quest, then use Archaeolune Energy to float Ancient Moon Pearls into each mechanism until the final Pearl sits in the Power Station and the terminal can be activated.
How the quest unlocks in Moontide Sea
The Moontide Sea stays locked until you have progressed the region’s main storyline. Beneath the Lunar Sea becomes available automatically once you complete the Visitors From the Stars World Quest. That quest, in turn, starts on its own after you finish the Pioneers World Quest at the Statue of the New Moon in Misty Shoal.
With those prerequisites done, head to the Curtain-Form Blackbody Containment Lab in the southern part of Moontide Sea. A group of jellyfish sits near a cave entrance there. Walking up to them triggers a short exchange from Paimon and a cutscene, which formally begins Beneath the Lunar Sea. Paimon points out that the cave holds a dark matter cell generation station, and the goal becomes finding a way past the sealed gate.
Ancient Moon Pearl and Archaeolune Energy mechanics
Every puzzle in this facility reuses the same two elements, so learning them once carries you through the whole quest.
- Ancient Moon Pearl is a heavy orb you can push. Wall mechanisms and the Power Station need a Pearl positioned or floated into the right spot to power up.
- Archaeolune Energy is the force you apply to lift, float, or burst objects. It makes a nearby Pearl rise into a mechanism, activates rubble-locked devices, and can be launched at an Archaeolune Energy Barrier to punch a hole in it.

Step inside the chamber beyond the final gate. You will pass an alien tree the heroes stop to examine before reaching the terminal. Activate the facility to gain access to its classified data. A short cutscene plays and Beneath the Lunar Sea completes.
You know it worked when the closing cutscene finishes and the quest is marked complete. Completing it also unlocks the Ancient Moon’s Remnant offering system, letting you offer Luna Sigils for further rewards.

On top of the quest rewards, freeing the jellyfish and enabling the launcher mechanism drops an Exquisite Chest and a Material Storage Chest along the way, so clear those before you leave. If the gate refuses to open at any stage, the usual cause is a Pearl that has not fully settled into its mechanism or a launcher that was fired before a Pearl was pushed in, so reposition the Pearl and reapply Archaeolune Energy before moving on.
