Quick answer: Mu Xiaokui waits in the reeds about 55 m beyond the Lakeside bell, at the top of the lift from Yuzan’s arena. Walking out from the bell starts her intro, and she has three phases.
Where Mu Xiaokui is
Mu Xiaokui is a boss in Chapter 1’s Village of Lu, waiting at the Lakeside overlooking Yuzan’s arena. Take the lift beside Yuzan’s arena to the Lakeside bell and rest there. The bell is your respawn point for this fight.

Travel roughly 55 m from the bell, following the reeds beside the lake. No fog gate marks the encounter; stepping into the reeds triggers her opening scene. She reveals that she has been waiting for Soul and plans to deal with him as the man who killed her father.

Combat starts as soon as the scene finishes, so arrive with full health and replenished healing gourds.

Add to Google Preferences →Mu Xiaokui’s three phases
| Phase | Health bar name | HP |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mu Xiaokui, Young Mistress of the Order | 46,890 |
| 2 | Mu Xiaokui, Queen of Iron and Jade | 62,520 |
| 3 (secret) | Jade Dancer, Young Mistress’s Guardian | 41,680 |
| 3 (secret) | Iron Fiend, Young Mistress’s Guardian | 41,680 |
These health values stay the same on every difficulty. Difficulty only changes how much damage Soul takes.
Phase 1: Young Mistress of the Order
The opening phase plays out among the lily pads. Mu Xiaokui mixes sword strikes with attacks from her red sash, under the “Mu Xiaokui, Young Mistress of the Order” bar.

Phase 2: Queen of Iron and Jade
Empty her first bar and a short scene plays. She sinks into a crouch on the boardwalk, then gets back up with a fresh, larger bar titled “Mu Xiaokui, Queen of Iron and Jade”.

Phase 3: Jade Dancer and Iron Fiend
Phase three opens once you finish the YOUNG MISTRESS quest, which requires five ribbons. A violet flare summons two guardians, and their health bars show on screen at the same time. Jade Dancer attacks with kicks backed by her blades and blue crescent arcs; Iron Fiend delivers powerful punches.

A combo sequence known as the Iron Jade Strike may occur during this phase. Jade Dancer springs from a boat roof as Iron Fiend rushes in, and button cues appear on screen. The required button varies with each cue; miss one and the scene restarts. The Mu Xiaokui boss fight guide has her full moveset.

Mu Xiaokui rewards
Each reward shows up as its own card once the fight ends.
| Reward | Type | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Story Item | Smuggler’s Tunnel gate | |
| Phantom Edge Soul Tempering Materials | Worldbreaker Fist | |
| Dual Wield weapon | Damage 302, Guard Break 120 |
Puppet No. 44’s Eye is the key to the blocked passage. Its card reads “The passage deep within the Smuggler’s Tunnel is blocked by Puppet No.44. This eye is the key to the puppet lock.” Picking it up changes the HEARTLESS REMNANTS objective to “Use the eyeball to unlock Puppet No. 44”.

Fist Fragment: Core comes from Iron Fiend’s gauntlets. The card spells out its purpose: “Collect all fragments to form the Worldbreaker Fist, used to Soul Temper the Iron Gauntlets.”

Fiend Saws are Jade Dancer’s leg blades, which Soul now holds in his hands. The card offers to equip them right away with “Equip the new weapon now?”

After the fight: Opening the Smuggler’s Tunnel
Mu Xiaokui survives the fight. In the closing scene, she tells Soul she will not make the same mistakes again, then poles her boat away over the lake at sunset as he watches from the jetty.
