Genshin Impact: Origin of the Sequence Quest Walkthrough (Luna VIII)

Reach Nuur Stone Circle, clear both terminal mini-games, and unlock the Meeting Point in Version 6.7.

Reach Nuur Stone Circle, clear both terminal mini-games, and unlock the Meeting Point in Version 6.7.

Origin of the Sequence is a World Quest in the Frost Moon region added with Version 6.7 Luna VIII. It runs on light exploration and two short puzzle mini-games instead of combat, and finishing it opens the Nuur Stone Circle Meeting Point along with a batch of Primogems.

Quick answer: Take the high-speed transit lane northeast of Ungien’s Circle to Nuur Stone Circle, interact with the terminal on the giant tower, collect all four data fragments plus the core in the first mini-game, then climb the Secret Source Dragon Idol and grab the single center core in the second mini-game to finish the quest.

How to unlock Origin of the Sequence

The quest sits at Nuur Stone Circle, but you cannot reach it until you have access to Ungien’s Circle. That access opens naturally as you play through the Visitors From the Stars quest, which is part of the Luna VIII story progression. Once Ungien’s Circle is available, no separate acceptance step is needed. Origin of the Sequence starts on its own the moment you approach the tower.

To get there, head to the northeastern edge of Ungien’s Circle and find the high-speed transit lane. Riding that lane drops you directly at Nuur Stone Circle, where the giant tower stands in the center.

First mini-game: repair the data nodes

When you reach the tower, walk up to it and interact with the terminal. A cutscene plays in which the system tries and fails to verify your identity, identifying the site as the Ab-Irimu storage array. To restore its functions, you have to fix the damaged data node, which triggers the first puzzle.

In this mini-game you steer the Secret Source Dragon Idol around a grid. The goal is to pick up all four data fragments while staying clear of the damaged nodes that block and hurt your path.

Grab the data fragment sitting directly below your spawn point. It is an easy first pickup, so just avoid the damaged nodes packed around it.
Move to the section that opens in the top-left corner. Enter from the very top of the maze, since the other entrances are sealed off by damaged nodes.
Collecting the second fragment unlocks several new areas, but the last two fragments are still blocked. Travel to the far bottom-right of the board to pick up the Repair Function, which lets you shoot and destroy damaged nodes.
With the Repair Function active, go for the fragment directly above you. Shoot through the damaged nodes to clear a lane and take it.
Head to the final fragment at the top of the board. Destroy any nodes still in the way and collect it.
Move to the center of the board to pick up the core data. The board resets on contact, which is intended. The sequence plays out and you exit the terminal automatically.

Second mini-game: the Secret Source Dragon Idol

Once you regain control, a Secret Source Dragon Idol appears right behind you. This part is much shorter than the first puzzle.

Use the Archaeolune Energy Nodes near the idol to climb onto the top of its head.
Interact with the terminal on the idol’s head to start the final mini-game.
Steer straight to the core data in the center of the board while dodging the damaged nodes. You only need to grab it once. After that, the dragon lands near the tower’s terminal and a closing cutscene plays, ending the quest.

Rewards and what you unlock

Completing the quest pays out Adventure EXP plus the following items, and it permanently opens the Nuur Stone Circle Meeting Point.

RewardAmount
Primogem40
Hero’s Wit4
Mora33,500
Mystic Enhancement Ore4

With Nuur Stone Circle unlocked, you can offer Luna Sigils at the Meeting Point for additional rewards, including Kuuhenki Shrine Keys and more Primogems. The site also feeds into upgrading the Ancient Moon’s Remnants tied to the Frost Moon areas.

How to confirm the quest is done

You know Origin of the Sequence is finished when the dragon lands beside the tower terminal, the final cutscene ends, and the quest closes with the reward pop-up. If the first terminal will not react when you approach the tower, you likely have not progressed far enough in Visitors From the Stars to open Ungien’s Circle, which is the requirement that gates the entire route to Nuur Stone Circle.
