LEGO Fortnite Odyssey: Crafting and using Power Cells for vehicles

Vehicles and contraptions in LEGO Fortnite Odyssey run on Power Cells. They function like batteries: you craft them, load them into a Power Center, and your build moves under its own power.

What you need (materials and stations)

You’ll craft each Power Cell from two ingredients and use a few stations to get there.

Ingredients: 6 Glass and 50 Biomass.
Stations: Compost Bin (for Biomass), Metal Smelter (for Glass), Crafting Bench (to make the Power Cell).
Key locations: Sand from Dry Valley or Shores biomes; Brightcore from Dry Valley caves; Bones from Skeletons at night or in caves.

Method 1 — Make Biomass with a Compost Bin

Place a Compost Bin from the Build Menu (Utilities/Stations). It processes organic inputs into Biomass, Soil, and Fertilizer over a few minutes.

Add organic items to the Composter Queue. Food, seeds, fish, monster drops, and similar materials are accepted; items that can’t be composted will be grayed out.

Collect Biomass when processing completes and repeat until you have 50. Outputs vary by input, so expect some Soil and Fertilizer along with Biomass.

Prioritize Bones if you need reliability. Skeletons drop Bone at night and in caves, and it consistently feeds the Compost Bin for Biomass.

Pick up your first Biomass to unlock the Power Cell recipe at the Crafting Bench. This recipe becomes visible under the Bench’s torch icon tab.

Method 2 — Make Glass with a Metal Smelter

Unlock the Metal Smelter by reaching Village Level 9. This is a later-game station, so plan time to level your village.

Build the Metal Smelter with 15 Brightcore, 35 Obsidian Slabs, and 3 Blast Cores. Brightcore and Obsidian come from Dry Valley caves; make Slabs at a Stone Breaker; defeat cave enemies for Blast Cores.

Learn the Glass recipe if it isn’t visible. Dig up Sand in a Dry Valley or Shores biome with a Shovel; once Sand is in your inventory, the Smelter will list Glass.

Smelt Glass using Sand and Brightcore. Produce at least 6 to meet one Power Cell’s requirement.

Optionally, loot bandit camps. Glass can sometimes be found there, reducing the smelting you need to do.

Method 3 — Craft the Power Cell at the Bench

Confirm you have 50 Biomass and 6 Glass in your inventory. These are consumed to produce a single Power Cell.

Open the Crafting Bench and go to the tab marked with a torch icon. Locate the Power Cell recipe unlocked by obtaining Biomass.

Craft the Power Cell. Repeat as needed for vehicles or other powered builds.

Use Power Cells with Power Centers

Place a Power Center on your vehicle or contraption from Build Menu > Toys > Controls. This module is required for powered movement.

Insert a Power Cell into the Power Center. Once loaded, the Power Center supplies energy to your build so it can move.

Choose a Power Center size that fits your design and materials. All three sizes are in Toys > Controls with the following build costs:

Small Power Center: 3 Granite, 2 Cords.
Medium Power Center: 5 Granite, 2 Cords.
Large Power Center: 8 Granite, 2 Cords.

Tips and troubleshooting

Glass recipe missing. If your Smelter doesn’t show Glass, collect Sand with a Shovel in Dry Valley or Shores; the recipe appears once Sand is in your inventory.

Short on Brightcore or Obsidian. Explore Dry Valley caves. Mine Brightcore nodes and gather Obsidian, then turn it into Slabs at a Stone Breaker.

Composting feels slow. Queue more items, favor Bones for steady Biomass, and let multiple cycles run. The Bin outputs Biomass, Soil, or Fertilizer depending on inputs, so expect mixed results.

Desert prep for Dry Valley runs. Bring gear and food that mitigate heat so you can safely farm Sand, Brightcore, and Obsidian without frequent retreats.

Once you’ve set up the Compost Bin and Metal Smelter, turning out Power Cells becomes a routine loop—stock Biomass and Glass, craft at the Bench, and keep your Power Center loaded to stay mobile.
