Wuthering Waves: Shape of Yesterday Quest Walkthrough

Shape of Yesterday is a photo-collection side quest in Wuthering Waves set in the Mengzhou region, and it belongs to the Scale of Past series. You travel to six locations around Xuanfang with the NPC Chuxiu, snap a photograph at each one, and collect rewards on the spot.

Quick answer: Finish Chapter IV Act II of the main story, then track Shape of Yesterday from your quest tab or the event menu, meet Chuxiu at Shaftyard Post, and photograph all six targets (Shaftyard Post, Fogveil Pagoda, Skyworks, Xuanfang Hold, the Tranquil Ruins, and the Xianling Village shrine tree) to earn 30 Astrite each, for 240 total.

How to unlock Shape of Yesterday

The quest becomes available only after you clear Chapter IV Act II of the Wuthering Waves main story. Once that requirement is met, open your quest tab or the event menu and set Shape of Yesterday as your tracked objective.

Head to Shaftyard Post and speak with the NPCs there until you find Chuxiu. Talk to the Xuanfang Warden near the gate, then move to the cliffside to scout the first photo spot.

All six photo rewards

Every photograph pays out 30 Astrite, 30,000 Shell Credit, and a stack of four Advanced upgrade items. The material type rotates between Resonance Potions, Energy Cores, and Sealed Tubes.

Full walkthrough

After finding Chuxiu at Shaftyard Post and asking the Xuanfang Warden for help, move to the cliffside spot. Stand on the marked photo-taking position and activate the camera to capture Shaftyard Post. Claim the rewards, then talk to Chuxiu.

Deploy your motorbike and follow the quest marker to the next viewpoint. Line up the camera on Fogveil Pagoda and take the shot. Collect the rewards and speak with Chuxiu again.

Ride to the Skyworks viewpoint. A group of Tacet Discords blocks the area, so clear all of them and check on Chuxiu’s condition before continuing.

Step onto the photo-taking spot and photograph Skyworks to bank the third batch of rewards. Speak with Chuxiu once the photo is saved.

Follow the marker to the panorama location and talk to Chuxiu. Use the grapple to reach the hilltop, wait for Chuxiu to climb up, then photograph Xuanfang Hold from above for the fourth reward.

Travel to the Tranquil Ruins and speak with Chuxiu. Follow the marker and break the rock to reveal an autopuppet, then move to the photo spot and capture the Tranquil Ruins together with the autopuppet you freed.

Fast travel to Xianling Village and talk to Chuxiu. Photograph the tree at the ancestral shrine to finish the shoot, then speak with Chuxiu one final time to complete Shape of Yesterday.

Confirming the quest is done

The quest closes out after the final conversation with Chuxiu at Xianling Village. If a photo target refuses to register, make sure you are standing on the exact marked photo-taking spot and that the correct landmark fills the camera frame. The Skyworks stop also gates progress behind the Tacet Discord fight, so clear every enemy there before expecting the photo prompt to appear.

With all six photographs captured, you walk away with 240 Astrite, 180,000 Shell Credit, and a full spread of Advanced Resonance Potions, Energy Cores, and Sealed Tubes to feed into character and weapon upgrades.
