Beat Auri, gather four bones for the Echoing Flute, and take down the level 70 whale to open the World Tree gate.

The World Tree finally opens in Palworld 1.0, but the gate stays shut until you have Panthalus in your party. Panthalus is a Water-type legendary Pal (Paldeck #203) that acts as the key to the region, so the whole task comes down to summoning it, defeating it, and catching it. Once it rides with you, a single terminal near the tree lets you inside.

Quick answer: Beat tower boss Auri to start the Panthalus quest, collect the four bones and craft the Echoing Flute, then use the flute at the shrine to summon Panthalus. Defeat and catch it, then interact with the terminal beside the World Tree to open the gate.

Panthalus stats and drops

Panthalus is not a wild spawn. It only appears through a summoning ritual, and the fight is a fixed encounter with a hard 10-minute timer. Know what you are walking into before you commit the materials.

Start the quest at Sunreach Island

Reach Sunreach Island first. Head to the Feybreak Tower and take the portal on top of it. The portal drops you straight onto Sunreach, where the quest chain lives.

Disable the barrier around the boss tower. Six terminals are scattered across Sunreach, and each one must be switched off. Once all six are down, the boss tower opens.

Defeat Auri and Shaolong inside the tower. It is a tough fight, but manageable at the right level. After the win, find Auri on her ledge and speak to her. Talking to Auri wraps up the Sunreacher and The Calamity missions and unlocks the quest Panthalus: Prove Your Strength to Panthalus, along with the location marker for the Pal.

Collect the four bones

At the marked location you will meet an NPC who tasks you with recovering four giant remains from four separate spots. Each bone sits inside a whale skeleton, and every skeleton shows up as a marker on your map. All four are close to towers, so you can fast travel most of the way there.

Craft the Echoing Flute and summon Panthalus

Return to the NPC once you hold all four bones. He hands you a Blurry Schematic, which is the recipe you need to build the summoning item.
Take the schematic to the Ancient Workshop and craft the Echoing Flute. All four bones are consumed as materials: the Bubbling Bone, Crashing Wave Bone, Stillness Bone, and Sea Breeze Bone. The finished flute is a restored bone whistle whose tone is meant to wake the guardian of the sea.

Go back to the Panthalus Shrine and interact with the tablet to use the flute. A short cutscene plays as your character blows into it, and Panthalus rises. The moment it appears, your 10-minute clock starts.

How to beat and catch Panthalus

Panthalus is a level 70 boss and a Water-type, so Electric Pals hit the hardest. Beakon is the most reliable pick, and Helzephyr Lux works well too. Stay airborne on a flying mount for most of the fight, since that dodges the bulk of its attacks.

Aim for the large crystal on its head. Shooting the crystal deals extra damage, which matters with the timer running. Keep clear of the tidal waves it throws out, because being caught in one costs a heavy chunk of health.

In the second phase you fight up close, where it takes more damage but tries to body slam you. Once its health is gone, throw a high-tier Pal Sphere, ideally a Legendary Sphere, to lock in the catch. You also earn 5 Ancient Technology Points for the takedown.

Note: If the timer runs out before Panthalus is down, the encounter ends without a catch. Keep constant pressure on the crystal so the health bar drops inside the 10-minute window.

Open the World Tree gate

With Panthalus in your squad, travel to the marked spot on your map near the World Tree. A terminal sits close to the gate. Interact with it while Panthalus is with you, and the gate opens so you can step into the region.

You will know it worked when the barrier lifts and you can walk through. Because Panthalus doubles as a flying mount thanks to its Resonant Guardian partner skill, the same Pal that unlocked the tree can also carry you across the water and skies around it.
