Season 9 of Marvel Rivals opens with Apocalypse dead and three heroes — Wolverine, Psylocke, and Gambit — murdered alongside him inside the Egyptian city of Thebes. The Death of Apocalypse event turns that into a detective mini-game where you gather clues and fill in a deduction page to name each killer. The first case, the Death of Wolverine, is the one available right now.

How the Death of Apocalypse deduction mini-game works
This event does not run on the usual in-game challenges. Instead, you examine a crime scene and rebuild what happened. Each case starts with a gallery card covered in small sparkles.

Who killed Wolverine
The killer is Bucky, the Winter Soldier. The solved case reveals that, while under Hydra’s control, he was responsible for murdering Logan’s family years earlier. That revelation triggered Wolverine’s Berserker Rage and the two came to blows.
Bucky’s mechanical arm landed the fatal blow. The attached Hive Cells drained not only Wolverine’s blood but also his healing factor, which is why the wound proved lethal.
When the Psylocke and Gambit cases unlock
The event releases its cases across the week rather than all at once. Wolverine is first, and the remaining two open on set dates. Each one moves you closer to identifying who killed Apocalypse himself.
