The full 1.0 launch of Palworld quietly reworked the look of several familiar Pals, and returning players are noticing that a few of their favorites don’t look quite the same as they did in Early Access. The changes range from a near-total model overhaul to small facial tweaks you might miss without a side-by-side comparison.
Quick answer: Four Pals have confirmed redesigns in Palworld 1.0 — Verdash, Robinquill (including Robinquill Terra), Fenglope, and Grintale. Verdash changed the most; Grintale changed the least.
Every redesigned Pal in Palworld 1.0
Pocketpair updated the character models for these Pals when the 1.0 version went live on July 10th, 2026. Each keeps its overall silhouette, so you’ll still recognize them, but proportions, colors, and facial details were adjusted. Here’s the full list and how much each one changed.
| Pal | Scale of change | Main edits |
|---|---|---|
| Verdash | Major overhaul | Shorter, less humanoid body; longer ears; softer, more cartoonish face; green eyes |
| Robinquill (and Robinquill Terra) | Moderate | Sharper look, olive-green coloring, trimmed head feathers, colored foot claws |
| Fenglope | Moderate | Violet color shift and smoke-like, cloudy horns |
| Grintale | Minor | Glowing pupils with inner rings; squared teeth; new eye markings |

Verdash received the most dramatic makeover of the group. Its proportions were shrunk down so it reads as less humanoid, giving it a rounder, more cartoonish look overall. The body is stockier with much larger, more pronounced ears, and the collar is toned down. Its eyes are now green rather than the old gold.
The end result looks like a small, grassy anime character with baggy-looking shorts. Before 1.0, fans often compared Verdash to Scorbunny and Cinderace, and this softer model pushes it further from that resemblance.
Robinquill and Robinquill Terra
Robinquill’s update sticks to subtler adjustments, but there are several of them. The primary color moves toward a more olive green, the height changes, and some of the feathers running down the back of its head were trimmed. Pocketpair also added color to the claws on its feet, and the model has a sharper, smoother finish.
The Terra variant, Robinquill Terra, was updated to match, carrying its usual tan and earthy tones over the new base design. Players had previously likened Robinquill to Decidueye, mostly because of its coloring.

Fenglope: color and horn tweaks
Fenglope keeps its majestic, legendary-deer aesthetic, but the palette and horns were reworked. It now leans toward a violet, lighter cobalt-blue hue, and the horns were changed to look like flowing smoke that echoes the wispy hair on its chest.
Those edits are the reason players called this out. The Early Access version was widely compared to Cobalion, and the smokier horns plus the color shift give it a more distinct outline.
Grintale: the smallest edit
Grintale changed the least, and the tweaks are easy to overlook. Its pupils now glow and carry inner rings, and its grin was reshaped so the teeth are squared off instead of jagged. There’s also a raised point in the middle of its smile and new markings that stick out beside each eye.
The body type is unchanged, so it still looks like the same Pal, just with slightly more manic-looking eyes. It had drawn comparisons to Galarian Meowth before the update.
Why the Pals were changed
Pocketpair has not published an official reason for the redesigns. They arrived alongside the full release, but the 1.0 patch notes don’t call them out directly. The only Pal-related reworks the developer mentions are new animations and stat adjustments, including over 100 new motions such as swimming, sleeping beside you, and idle animations added to existing Pals.
The common theory among players is that some Pals looked too close to specific Pokémon, and the new models are meant to feel more original. That remains speculation — the developer has not confirmed it.
Could more redesigns appear?
No further model changes are confirmed. Verdash, Robinquill (with Robinquill Terra), Fenglope, and Grintale are the only redesigns identified in Palworld 1.0 so far. Pocketpair has not said whether additional Pals will be reworked in future patches.
Note: If you’re a returning player, the quickest way to spot these is to open your Paldeck and compare the new portraits to what you remember. The differences are clearest on Verdash and hardest to catch on Grintale.
