Bad early choices are what actually hold accounts back in Anime Expeditions. The game throws a dozen progression systems at you from the first minute, and it is easy to burn gems, trait crystals, and hours on the wrong things. The fixes below are the ones that keep your account moving instead of stalling.
Quick answer: Do not spend gems before level 10 and do not skip farm units. Those two habits waste the most long-term value and make every match harder than it needs to be.

Spending gems before level 10
Secret units only unlock at level 10, so every heavy summon before then is spent without access to the strongest characters in the game. Pull just enough to fill your team slots, then stop.
Hold the rest until you hit level 10, then spend on the standard banner and start building toward secret pity. The secret pity counter runs to 10,000 on the standard banner and guarantees a Secret unit like Shadow once you reach it, so early value carries directly into your endgame roster.

Add to Google Preferences →Rolling the Mini banner instead of the Standard banner
The Mini banner can show a unit you want, but it does not build meaningful long-term value. Secret units such as Shadow and Kenpachi (8th Sword) are obtainable only on the Standard banner, and that is also where your secret pity accumulates.
Stick to the Standard banner for your main summons. The Beginner banner is fine when you have tickets for it, but the Mini banner is usually a skip.
| Banner | Use it? | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Yes | Builds secret pity; only source of Secret units |
| Beginner | Yes, with tickets | Event value |
| Mini | Usually no | Weak long-term value |

Skipping the free rewards before you grind
Free rewards cut your farming time, so collect them before you spend stamina or gems. Codes give gems, rerolls, and materials. The group reward is a one-time boost for joining. The daily calendar and the Beginner’s Path both hand out units and materials.
The calendar is also your safety net for True Saint. If you miss the 18-hour Time Chamber reward, you can still claim True Saint from the calendar on day 3, so you are never locked out of your first carry.
Ignoring farm units and your in-match economy
A weak in-match economy is one of the two biggest traps in the game. Farm units generate money during a match, and more money means faster upgrades, which means easier bosses. Skipping them makes every stage a grind.
Claim Stone Alchemist from the Beginner’s Path after 10 summons and equip it immediately as your first farm unit. Add Roman from Legendary summons later for stronger late-game economy. In a match, place farms first, upgrade them early, and only then add damage near the spawn.

Buying trait rerolls before evolution materials
Spending event coins only on trait rerolls is a classic beginner error. Your first goal is evolution, not perfect traits, because if you cannot evolve your carry, no trait roll will save the account.
Prioritize Gray Sprite, which is used to craft evolution materials. You can get it from Headliner Hunt, the event shop, the gold shop, and progression rewards. Traits and equipment rerolls come after your main carry is evolved.
| Event shop item | Priority |
|---|---|
| Gray Sprite | Very high |
| Evolution sprites/materials | High |
| Equipment rerolls | Medium |
| Trait rerolls | Medium |
| Cosmetics | Low |
Wasting Trait Crystals on the wrong units
Rerolling costs one Trait Crystal per attempt, and the top traits are extremely rare. Unbound sits at a 0.1% roll chance, Primordial at 0.2%, Forsaken at 0.3%, and Draconic at 0.5%. Save your crystals until you have a unit worth the investment.
Kenpachi (8th Sword, Berserk) is the clearest example. Its upgrade costs are steep, with a full preview upgrade running to ¥92,800, and it is only really viable when rolled with the Unbound trait. As a new player, do not sink crystals into it early. Build a proven core first, then chase premium traits.
Playing Story Mode on normal instead of hard
Hard mode pays out far better rewards, including extra rerolls from star missions, and it is very doable with True Saint plus farm support. Clearing Story Mode is what unlocks new maps and feeds you gems, Trait Crystals, and evolution materials.
If you lose early on a hard stage, you placed damage too late. If you lose to the boss, your farm upgrades were too slow, or your carry is underbuilt. Fix the economy before you blame the difficulty.

Delaying True Saint’s evolution
For most beginners, True Saint is the safest first evolution and one of the biggest early power spikes. Evolved into True Saint (Holy), it gains an extra upgrade, better AoE, a new attack, four damage ticks, and an active skill that steals 20% damage from the three strongest units in range for 60 seconds.
Once evolved, it can carry most story content with proper farm support. Prepare its materials early rather than spreading resources across a large roster of unevolved units.
Ignoring the Expedition Hub and Armory
The Expedition Hub unlocks at level 20 and becomes one of the most important progression systems later on. Skipping it means missing passive resources and the relic crafting that powers your late game.
Make the Armory your priority inside the Hub, since it crafts relics and rerolls gear. The Resource Drill, Gold Mine, and Training Grounds add passive resources, gold, and unit EXP while you play elsewhere.
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Armory | Crafts relics, rerolls gear |
| Resource Drill | Passive resources |
| Gold Mine | Passive gold |
| Training Grounds | Passive unit EXP |

Chasing new units instead of optimizing your core
Once your main team is evolved, constantly pulling for new units is a waste. A small, strong core with good traits and equipment carries you much further than a large collection of unevolved characters.
Solid early targets keep this simple. Legendary picks like Scissors, Forbidden Teacher, and Ice Queen work as temporary carries, while Puppet, Cursed Student, Elf Mage, and Summon Sorcerer are strong Mythical goals. Puppet in particular marks the strongest enemy for 20% more damage, which speeds up boss kills for the whole team.
Avoid these traps and your account compounds instead of stalling. Save gems until level 10, feed your in-match economy with farm units, put evolution materials ahead of trait rerolls, and treat the Expedition Hub as a long-term investment rather than an afterthought.
