Transcending an Ascension weapon in Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok is gated behind late-game progress, not the early expansion menus. Unlike the four basic weapon types you can transcend soon after starting the DLC, the Ascension type stays locked until you clear a specific piece of endgame content.
Quick answer: Complete Conflux Cycle 5 and defeat Beelzebub. This unlocks Ascension weapon transcendence at Siero’s Knickknack Shack, provided the weapon is already at Lv. 150 with maxed Awakening.

What you need before the Ascension option appears
Weapon Transcendence is an upgrade layer applied to an existing weapon, not a new weapon. Before any weapon can be transcended, it has to be finished at the base level first, and the same rule applies to Ascension gear.
- The Ascension weapon must be fully upgraded to Lv. 150.
- Its Awakening phases must be maxed out.
- The general Weapon Transcendence feature must already be unlocked by clearing the You’re Being Watched Chaos quest, which means defeating the Smiley Regalia at the Blanketed Serenity area.
Clearing You’re Being Watched only opens transcendence for the four basic weapon types (Defender, Stinger, Stunner, and Executioner). Ascension and Terminus weapons remain separate unlocks that arrive much later in the campaign.

Add to Google Preferences →The exact trigger: Conflux 5 and Beelzebub
The specific requirement to transcend Ascension weapons is finishing Conflux Cycle 5 and then defeating Beelzebub. Once both are done, the Ascension transcendence option becomes available at Siero’s Knickknack Shack for characters that own an Ascension weapon.
This sits near the end of the Endless Ragnarok content. Terminus weapons follow the same pattern with a different boss, unlocking after you defeat the Omnis Zegalith (Hexachromatic Hierarch) for the first time. Until you reach either of these fights, the transcended basic weapons will temporarily outperform your untranscended Ascension and Terminus options.
| Weapon type | Unlock condition | Where it unlocks |
|---|---|---|
| Defender, Stinger, Stunner, Executioner | Clear the You’re Being Watched Chaos quest | Available from early DLC |
| Ascension | Complete Conflux 5 and defeat Beelzebub | Siero’s Knickknack Shack |
| Terminus | Defeat Omnis Zegalith for the first time | Siero’s Knickknack Shack |

Transcend the Ascension weapon at Siero’s Knickknack Shack
You know it worked when the weapon shows its higher transcendence level in the shop and the Swap Traits option becomes usable on that weapon in the Gear menu.

Where to farm transcendence materials
After a weapon is fully upgraded, transcendence draws on endgame materials rather than standard counter drops. There are two dependable sources.
- Chaos quests: The Endless Ragnarok Chaos-difficulty quests drop transcendence materials directly.
- The Conflux: This single-player roguelite mode lets you target-farm materials by redeeming boons at the end of a cycle, which is generally the faster and more reliable route.
Because gathering enough materials for every weapon takes a long time, it is worth committing to one weapon per character rather than spreading resources thin. Transcendence is tied to the individual weapon, so upgrading a character’s Ascension weapon does not carry over to their Terminus weapon or any other type.

Swapping traits on a transcended Ascension weapon
Transcendence unlocks additional trait slots on the weapon, and you can change some of the equipped traits after the fact. To do this, open Gear in the menu, select the character with the transcended Ascension weapon equipped, then choose Swap Traits.
Each trait shows which slot it can occupy, highlighted in yellow, and a single trait may fit more than one slot. Some traits are permanently attached to the weapon and cannot be swapped out. General traits available for these slots include options such as Quick Cooldown, Cascade, Nimble Onslaught, Uplift, and a range of resistance traits like Burn, Poison, and Dizzy Resistance.
Character-specific traits cannot be rolled into these swappable slots. Those still have to be equipped through S-tier Sigils, so the weapon slots are best used for broadly useful passives that free up your Sigil loadout.
For characters built around the Ascension weapon’s mix of survivability and offense, such as Beatrix, transcending it provides the health and attack balance needed to stay alive through Chaos-difficulty encounters while keeping her buffs active. Once Beelzebub is down and Conflux Cycle 5 is behind you, that upgrade path is finally open.
