Reaper is one of the few high-rarity units in Anime Expeditions you can actually farm instead of pulling from a banner. He drops from a specific raid stage, snowballs his damage the longer a fight runs, and turns into a much stronger form once you feed him the right materials. If you want him on your team, everything comes down to grinding one raid act and then clearing a single trial for his evolution.
Quick answer: Reaper drops from Spirit City Raid Act 2 at a 5% rate, with a one-time pity that guarantees him after 20 clears. Evolve him into Reaper (Released) using 1 Hollowed Visor, 20 Sprite (Red), 20 Sprite (Yellow), 1 Sprite (Rainbow), and 5,000 Gold.

How to get Reaper from Spirit City Raid Act 2
Reaper is a farmable unit tied to the Spirit City Raid. He only drops from Act 2 of that raid, where the boss is the Silver Serpent. Each clear gives you a 5% chance of Reaper appearing as a reward. Because the odds are low, expect to run the stage several times before he shows up.

There is a safety net. Reaper has a one-time pity of 20 completions, which means clearing Act 2 twenty times guarantees him if the random drops never land. Raids unlock at Player Level 25, so you need to reach that milestone through Story, Expeditions, summoning, and quests before you can start farming.

Once Reaper is in your roster, his evolved form, Reaper (Released), unlocks his full kit and stronger stats. Gather every item below, open the unit evolution interface, select Reaper, and confirm the upgrade. The evolution completes only when all listed materials are present, and Reaper (Released) replaces the base form in your inventory.
| Material | Quantity | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Hollowed Visor | 1 | Mirror of the False Moonblade trial stage |
| Sprite (Red) | 20 | Regular, Daily, and Weekly Challenges, plus crafting |
| Sprite (Yellow) | 20 | Regular, Daily, and Weekly Challenges, plus crafting |
| Sprite (Rainbow) | 1 | Daily and Weekly Challenges, plus crafting |
| Gold | 5,000 | Clearing stages, completing quests, and more |
The Hollowed Visor is the main bottleneck, since it comes from a dedicated trial rather than routine farming. Run daily and weekly Challenges to stockpile the colored Sprites, and craft any that fall short.
Reaper abilities and passives
Reaper deals Physical archetype damage with the Light element, so build his equipment around those types. His defining trait is a snowball design. The more variety of enemies he hits, the stronger he becomes for the rest of the run.
His base passive, Adaptation, gives permanent buffs each time he attacks a new enemy type. For every enemy type he strikes, he gains a stacking +5% damage and +5% critical chance. These bonuses hold for the whole stage, which is why he ramps up fast on maps with mixed waves.
In his evolved Reaper (Released) form, he carries three passives and one active ability:
- Adaptation: Permanent +5% damage and +5% critical chance per unique enemy type attacked.
- Critical Tempo: Landing a critical hit cuts his SPA by 5% for 20 seconds, stacking up to a 15% reduction.
- Mirage Swap: If he is stunned while a Mirage Clone exists, he instantly cleanses the stun and swaps places with the clone.
- Mirage Step (active): Teleports him to a chosen spot within range and spawns a Mirage Clone dealing 50% of his base damage. It has a 35-second cooldown.
Mirage Step is introduced at his first upgrade, so you gain the teleport and clone tools early. Together, the critical hits from Adaptation feed Critical Tempo, which raises his attack speed and lets his permanent buffs pile up even faster.
Reaper upgrade stats and costs
Reaper’s upgrade path runs from UPG 0 through UPG 6, with damage, attack speed (SPA), and range shifting as you invest. His DPS climbs steadily and jumps hard at the final tiers.
| Upgrade | Cost (¥) | Damage | SPA | Range | DPS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| UPG 0 | 700 | 91 | 4.6 | 16 | 19.78 |
| UPG 1 | 1,000 | 117 | 4.4 | 16 | 26.59 |
| UPG 2 | 1,600 | 149 | 4.2 | 18 | 35.48 |
| UPG 3 | 2,050 | 201 | 4.6 | 18 | 43.70 |
| UPG 4 | 2,500 | 229 | 4.6 | 18 | 49.78 |
| UPG 5 | 2,750 | 385 | 6.7 | 19 | 57.46 |
| UPG 6 | 3,250 | 510 | 6.5 | 21 | 78.46 |
Note: Reaper has a placement limit of 3, so you can field up to three copies on a single stage.
Best trait for Reaper
Reaper wants raw stat increases, since his passives scale off the damage he already has. That makes Unbound the standout choice. It boosts his damage by 350% and range by 10% while trimming his SPA by 5%, which directly amplifies both his hits and his stacking bonuses.
If Unbound is out of reach, Primordial and Draconic work as solid fallbacks. All three lean into the same idea, which is stacking as much offensive power as possible so his snowball comes online quickly.
Reaper’s design, inspired by Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach, rewards long fights and mixed waves where his Adaptation stacks keep building. Farm him from Spirit City Raid Act 2, push him to Reaper (Released), and slot Unbound to turn him into a snowballing DPS unit that only gets more dangerous as a run goes on.
