Companions arrived in Sell Lemons with the V1.2.0 update on July 24th, 2026, and they work differently from almost everything else in the game. You cannot buy them from a shop or stumble onto them while exploring. Each one is tied to a specific milestone, so equipping the full set is a checklist of tasks rather than a shopping trip.
Quick answer: There are six companions. Four come from normal progression (grow a 10-Star Fruit, complete your first Evolution, collect every badge, and reach 777 Ascensions), and the final two are only handed out during developer-hosted chaotic/admin events.
Every companion and its unlock condition
The table below lists all six companions currently available and exactly what triggers each unlock. Some companions are named in-game, while the newest ones tied to fruit growing and events are simply logged by their requirement.

Companions are purely cosmetic. They do not add farming multipliers, passive income, or any other buff. The only reason to chase them is to equip one and show it off to other players on the server.
The four companions you earn by playing
Four of the six unlock through standard progression, so you will likely bump into some of them just by advancing your account. Here is what each one asks for.
Grow a 10-Star Fruit
Plant fruit trees and keep upgrading them until one of your fruit reaches 10 stars. High-star fruit depends on how far you have progressed plus a little luck, so newer players should expect this to take a while. It is a farming milestone more than a single action.
Complete your first Evolution
This is the most direct companion to earn. Progress until you meet the Evolution requirements, then evolve a fruit into its Void form for the first time. The companion unlocks automatically once that first Evolution goes through.
Collect every badge
Reaching 100% badge completion unlocks this one, and it is a long grind. You need every badge currently in the game, including the harder ones like Good Samaritan (from the UFO Key) and Cosmic Farmer (from the Sewer Key). Check your badge list often, since future updates can add new badges you will need to sweep up.
Reach 777 Ascensions
This is the deepest late-game requirement. Ascensions each reset your progression, so hitting 777 of them means repeating that loop many times over. Improving your farming efficiency is the only real shortcut, since faster runs mean faster Ascensions.
The two event-only companions
The last two companions cannot be earned through normal gameplay at all. Both are tied to special chaotic/admin events that the developers host occasionally. You unlock the fifth by joining one qualifying event and the sixth by joining another.
Because these events do not run on a fixed schedule, timing is the whole challenge. Keep an eye on official server announcements and community channels so you are online when one starts. No official date for the next event is currently confirmed, so there is no way to plan ahead beyond staying active.
Note: If you are chasing 100% completion, prioritize the four progression companions first since you fully control the pace on those. The two event companions are the only pieces that depend on catching a live event.
How to confirm a companion unlocked
Once you meet a requirement, the matching companion becomes available to equip from your companion collection. The Evolution reward is the clearest test, since it appears right after your first Void Evolution completes. For the milestone companions, open your collection after hitting the target (your 10-Star Fruit, the final badge, or your 777th Ascension) and equip the newly available follower to verify it registered.
Companion lineups tend to grow with each major patch, so it is worth checking your collection screen and future patch notes after big updates. New milestones usually mean new companions to add to the set.
