Resummoning a Sprite in Fortnite just got cheaper. Epic Games pushed a hotfix on July 24, 2026 that lowers the amount of Sprite Dust required to bring a Sprite back after you lose one in a match. The change landed just before Shinier Hours, and it softens the sting of dropping a rare or Mythic Sprite mid-game.

Quick answer: Base Sprites now cost 10% less Sprite Dust to summon, and Sprite Variants cost up to 33% less. A Mythic Variant that used to need 15,000 Sprite Dust now costs 10,000.

New Sprite Dust summon costs after the hotfix

The cost reduction splits into two groups. Base Sprites all drop by a flat 10% across every rarity. Sprite Variants get a much steeper discount, landing between roughly 32.5% and 33% off depending on rarity.

RarityBase (old → new)Variant (old → new)
Rare2,000 → 1,8004,000 → 2,700
Epic3,000 → 2,7006,000 → 4,000
Legendary5,000 → 4,50010,000 → 6,750
Mythic7,500 → 6,75015,000 → 10,000

Note: The 15,000 Sprite Dust price on Mythic Variants was the most punishing to lose, so the drop to 10,000 is the single largest saving in the update.

Why the cheaper cost matters

When you lose a Sprite during a match, summoning it again costs Sprite Dust. Before this hotfix, losing a rare pickup like the Pollo Sprite or a Holofoil Batman Sprite could wipe out a huge chunk of your Sprite Dust reserves. The reduced prices mean you can equip and show off rarer Sprites without treating every death as a total loss.

Gizmos like the Extraction Booster still help you gather more Sprite Dust when you extract a Sprite, but the amount you pull rarely covers a full resummon on its own. The lower summon costs close some of that gap, especially for anyone chasing Sprite Mastery, which requires repeatedly using a Sprite.

Is the change permanent?

It is not confirmed whether these reduced costs stay in place for good or apply only around Shinier Hours. Epic delivered the reduction as a hotfix rather than a full patch, so the pricing could shift again. With Chapter 7 Season 3 in its final stretch and Chapter 7 Season 4 approaching, many players want the costs pushed even lower, and the rumor that Sprites would carry over into the next season has already been shut down.

For now, the practical takeaway is simple. Check the summon prompt after you lose a Sprite. If the Sprite Dust figure matches the new column above, the hotfix is active on your client and you are paying the reduced rate.
