Quick answer: Soul has no character level, so there is no player level cap. Weapons and Phantom Edges each have 59 upgrade steps, which counts up from Lv. 1 to a top of Lv. 60.
Is there a character level?
No. Open the Character screen and you won’t see a level number for Soul, and fights pay out Remnant Dust, not experience. Soul gets stronger through upgrades, not by levelling up.

Add to Google Preferences →Max weapon and Phantom Edge level
Weapons and Phantom Edges begin at Lv. 1, each with 59 upgrade steps. Counted up from Lv. 1, that puts the top at Lv. 60, though no weapon at that level has been pictured here. With no steps left, the upgrade menu reads “Max Level Reached”.
Each upgrade uses metal, Solvent, and Remnant Dust; later tiers also require scarcer supplies, including Polished Twinned Metal and Concentrated Solvent. To apply multiple upgrades without clicking through them individually, hold the “UPGRADE TO MAX” button, which advances the item as far as your materials allow. The complete process is covered in the walkthrough on how to upgrade weapons.
The stat gains are easy to see. Sanguine Twin deals 300 Damage at Lv. 6 and 440 Damage at Lv. 13.

Upgrades are not always free to undo. Past a certain point, rolling back a level costs a Phantom Reforge Talisman, and the game warns you before you confirm with “After upgrading, resetting the level will require 1 Phantom Reforge Talisman”.
Medicine and accessories
Medicine levels up too, on a much shorter track. The Healing Gourd tops out at Lv. 7.
Accessories do not use levels. You polish accessories instead, and when an accessory can’t be polished any further, the button reads “MAX POLISH REACHED”.

How to get stronger without levels
Since Soul has no level to raise, his own growth comes from these:
- Max HP: raise it with the methods covered in how to increase max HP.
- Max Sha-Chi: use Sha-Chi Amber, which reads “Permanently increases maximum Sha-Chi by 10%.”
- Abilities: spend Remnant Dust and materials in Train Abilities at a bell.
Enemy levels
Enemies and bosses have levels of their own, which you can browse in the full enemies list. Those levels do not shift with the difficulty modes.
