How to Beat Ultron Fast in Marvel Rivals’ Age of Ultron PvE Mode

Everything you need to drop Ultron across both boss fights, plus the one hero that makes it easiest.

Everything you need to drop Ultron across both boss fights, plus the one hero that makes it easiest.

Ultron is the only boss in the Avengers: Age of Ultron PvE mode, but you don’t fight him once. You take him down twice, and the second round is a serious grind if you go in blind. The good news is that his attack pool is small and predictable, so beating him fast comes down to reading a handful of moves and picking the right hero.

Quick answer: Defeat Ultron in Phase 7 (494,000 HP) and again in the final Phase 11 (2,090,000 HP). Clear his Sentry drones first, dodge his laser and unibeam attacks, and pick Iron Man to deal steady damage from the air.

Ultron’s two boss fights and HP

A full run ends only after you kill Ultron twice. He shows up as a mid-run boss and again as the finale, and his health pool jumps massively between the two encounters. Everything in between is Sentry waves.

EncounterPhaseUltron HP
Mid-run bossPhase 7494,000
Final bossPhase 112,090,000

The mode has both common and hard difficulty. Only common is unlocked at the start, and clearing it once opens hard mode. His moves stay the same across both difficulties, so the tactics below carry over.

Beating Ultron in Phase 7

Ultron drops in after you scrap his Sentries in Phase 6. Despite the big HP number, this is the easier of his two fights. He only cycles through three attacks here: a unibeam, a drone summon, and a burst of multiple laser beams.

Watch for his laser the moment the fight starts. If a caution symbol appears on your hero, you’re the target, so use your movement ability to slide out of the beam’s path.

When he summons a wave of Sentry drones, deal with those first. They chip at you from behind while you’re locked onto the boss, so clear them and let your teammates keep pressure on Ultron.

As his health drops, he fires several laser beams at once instead of one. Prioritize dodging that all-out attack, then pour damage back in with your full kit. Since he only has those three moves, the fight is really about surviving the beams and staying on target.

Beating Ultron in the final phase

The Phase 11 rematch is a war of attrition thanks to that 2,090,000 HP pool. He repeats most of his Phase 7 attacks but adds a few extra tricks, and this time you also have to keep Friday alive while Ultron and his Sentries try to tear her down.

He opens with the laser attack again, and it now deals extended damage. If you’re the marked target, get out of the beam immediately rather than trying to trade through it.

Ultron often slides to the far side of the arena and lets his elite drones handle the fighting. Wipe those drones first, then swing back to the boss. Use the jump pads to reach the high ground, since he parks himself up top for most of the fight.

Once Ultron hits roughly a quarter of his HP, he throws out every drone at once for a “drone show.” Don’t get pulled into it. The drones fire projectiles and screen for Ultron, and he’ll punish you the second you’re distracted. Dodge the projectiles and keep hammering the boss directly.
With no Strategists in this mode to heal you, lean on the recharging health packs whenever you take a hit. Keep firing on Ultron through the drone swarm. The moment he goes down, every drone falls with him and the run ends.

Note: Protecting Friday matters as much as your own health bar in the final phase, so don’t tunnel so hard on Ultron that his drones slip past you to attack her.

Best hero to beat Ultron fast: Iron Man

Iron Man is the standout pick for shredding Ultron quickly. Ultron spends both fights floating above the ground, so a flying hero lets you stay level with him and keep dealing damage instead of chasing him around the arena. Iron Man’s flight also makes dodging incoming projectiles far easier than it is on the ground.

His reworked kit fits the mode perfectly. Micro Missile Barrage auto-locks, so you can clear the endless Sentry waves without aiming at each one, and the Invincible Pulse Cannon ultimate is built for nuking Ultron and his drones together. If you pick the perk that boosts your damage while you’re away from enemies, you can hang back at range and still burn through his health pool.

You beat the mode outright once Ultron falls in the final phase and the match completes. Clearing common difficulty for the first time hands you 200 Units and the Avengers: Age of Ultron Gallery Card, while a first-time hard clear unlocks the free Ultron “Avengers: Age of Ultron” costume and the Path to Peace MVP. If you want the hero-specific titles, finish hard difficulty as each character, including the Unmaker of Ultron title reserved for a hard clear on Iron Man.
