Squad Building Challenges in EA FC 27 no longer ask you to match nations, leagues, or chemistry links. The mode moves to a point-based system where each card in your club is worth a set number of points, and a challenge is complete once your submissions add up to the required total. That single change removes the puzzle math that used to sit between you and an SBC reward.
Quick answer: Every player card has a point value tied to its rating and item tier. An SBC now lists a point goal, such as 500 points, and you reach it however you want, either a couple of high-rated cards or a pile of low-rated ones. There is no overall rating target, no chemistry threshold, and no nationality or league requirement.

How the EA FC 27 SBC point system works
Instead of a fixed squad shape, each challenge sets a cumulative point target. You fill that target with any cards you own. The trade-off is straightforward. Higher-rated cards and better item tiers carry more points, so they finish challenges faster. Lower-rated cards carry fewer points, so you need more of them to hit the same total.
A challenge that once demanded an 84-rated team with 22 chemistry, or a specific Argentine player, now just asks for a number. You decide how to hit it. Two duplicate high-rated cards can clear a target on their own, or you can dump 50 bronze items that have been sitting in your club doing nothing.
| Old SBC requirement | New SBC requirement |
|---|---|
| Minimum squad overall rating | Cumulative point total |
| Chemistry threshold and links | Removed |
| Nation, league, or club rules | Removed |
| Fixed 11-slot squad grid | Any card count that reaches the total |

Add to Google Preferences →What this changes for fodder
The point value reshapes how fodder works across a season. Low-tier cards keep their usefulness much longer, because they still contribute points even late in the year. You are not throwing them away just because they no longer fit a rating band. High-rated fodder becomes a fast shortcut, letting you clear a challenge in seconds when you want speed over efficiency.
Because challenges no longer force specific nations or leagues, there is far less reason to overpay on the transfer market for an obscure player just to satisfy a requirement. You complete challenges with what your club already holds.
Progressive submissions let you deposit cards as you go
The other core change is progressive submission. In earlier titles you had to fill all eleven squad slots before you could hand anything over, which meant duplicates piled up in temporary storage and blocked further pack openings until you sorted them.
Now you deposit cards into an active challenge one at a time and lock in progress toward the point goal as you go. Open a pack, hit an untradeable duplicate, and drop it straight into a challenge without leaving to build a full squad first. The count ticks up in real time, so managing your club inventory no longer stalls your pack openings.

Why EA overhauled SBCs
The redesign is aimed at cutting the time you spend inside menus doing card math. By removing chemistry links and rating calculations, the mode pushes the focus back to playing matches and earning rewards through gameplay rather than market speculation. It also reduces the need for third-party solver tools that players leaned on to plan out squads.
This ties into a wider Ultimate Team direction toward faster, more immediate end-of-match rewards, with active play feeding your point totals more directly than before. Whether you are clearing club clutter or grinding toward elite upgrades, the point format makes completing challenges quicker and less fiddly.
One important note on submissions
SBC submissions remain final. Once a card goes into a challenge, it is permanently removed from your club in exchange for the reward, and it cannot be restored. That rule carries over from previous titles, so double-check before you deposit cards you might want later, including items tied to Evolutions.
