Building a Pro in EA SPORTS FC 27 now runs through The Grounds, and two systems decide how your player performs across its street pitches and stadiums. Amps hand you short-term power, while Masteries lock in gains that follow you forever. Together they replace the old, rigid way of leveling a Clubs player.
Quick answer: Amps are equippable consumables that grant temporary attribute boosts, PlayStyles, and perks. You can run two Standard Amps plus one Signature Amp at once. Masteries are permanent stat bonuses earned by taking an Archetype to level 10, and they apply to every build you make afterward.

What Amps do to your Pro
Amps are a new kind of consumable item that you slot onto your avatar for direct, situational control over how it plays. Equipping one gives you temporary attribute boosts, specific PlayStyles, and unique perks. Some of the strongest ones are modeled on real footballers, so applying a star like Kylian Mbappé passes on stat boosts, PlayStyles, and perks inspired by his game for as long as he stays equipped.
Amps split into two categories across four tiers each. The higher the tier, the bigger the effect.
| Category | What it delivers |
|---|---|
| Standard Amps | Direct core attribute boosts for fine-tuning a custom build |
| Signature Amps | Icon-inspired effects with far stronger boosts, PlayStyles, and perks |

Add to Google Preferences →Amp loadout limits and how to equip them
You cannot stack every Amp you own at the same time. The active loadout caps out at three, and the mix is fixed: two Standard Amps and a single Signature Amp. That constraint is the whole point of the system, since it forces you to decide which boosts matter for the pitch you are about to play.

| Slot type | Maximum equipped |
|---|---|
| Standard Amps | 2 |
| Signature Amps | 1 |
| Total active | 3 |
You collect more Amps by completing objectives, playing live events, and progressing through seasons, and you can also buy them directly. New Amps keep arriving through live campaigns during the year.
How Masteries make boosts permanent
Where Amps are temporary, Masteries are the lasting record of how far you have developed a Pro. Every Archetype you level leaves a permanent mark that carries across all of your builds. Take an Archetype to level 10 and you unlock a universal stat reward that stays active no matter which role you equip later.

Mastering the Finisher Archetype, for example, grants a permanent +1 to Finishing and +1 to Composure. Those points apply to your avatar even when you later switch to a completely different Archetype. Because the bonuses stack across roles, leveling several Archetypes early makes your Pro stronger everywhere at once.
Archetype changes that let you experiment freely
The reason chasing multiple Masteries is worth it comes down to how Archetypes now behave. EA Sports removed the barriers that used to lock you into a role, so trying new positions costs you nothing.
- Every Archetype is unlocked from day one.
- You can switch between roles whenever you want.
- Resetting a build is completely free, with no Coin cost.
- Attributes can be fine-tuned individually.
Free attribute resets are the piece that ties everything together. You can test different Amps and builds without penalty, then reallocate points whenever a new setup looks better.
How progression feeds both systems
Nearly everything you do in The Grounds pushes your Pro forward, not just Clubs matches. Small-sided games like 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and Rush reward Grounds Coins and Archetype XP, and casual Kickabouts and drills contribute too. That XP is what levels Archetypes toward their Mastery unlock, while Coins and rewards feed customization and more Amps.
You will know a Mastery has landed when the permanent bonus appears on your avatar’s stats regardless of the Archetype you have equipped, and an Amp is active once it sits in one of your three loadout slots. Keep rotating your two Standard Amps and one Signature Amp to match each pitch, and bank Mastery bonuses across as many Archetypes as you can so the gains stick around for every build you make next.
