Every heart threshold, date activity, wedding step, and the exact way to break up or divorce in the vampire life-sim.

Romance is one of the biggest reasons to move to Moonlight Peaks, and nearly every resident of the gothic town can be wooed. The catch is that the game never spells out how the relationship loop actually works, so it leaves you to piece together the jump from first gift to wedding, and how to walk it all back if things go sideways.

Quick answer: Build a character to 4 hearts to ask them out, complete a date to officially start dating, reach 8 hearts and finish another date to propose, then attend the Town Hall wedding. To break up or divorce, talk to Llemi in The Pink Grove and pick the matching dialogue option.

Reaching 4 hearts to ask someone out

Dating starts with affection, and affection comes from showing up every day. Pick a romanceable character, talk to them, hand over a gift, and clear their daily interactions and Heart Events to push the relationship meter up. Gifts they love or like move the needle fastest, so it pays to learn their tastes.

Once a character hits 4 hearts, the “Ask on date” option unlocks. Talk to them, choose Invite, then Ask on date. They agree right away. Head back to your farm and sleep a single night, and your date will be waiting outside your house the next day. Finish that outing and their status flips to “Dating,” which opens up the higher affection tiers all the way to 8 hearts.

One hard rule to keep in mind: you cannot ask anyone out while you are married to someone else. You can, however, date several people at once before committing, and there is no social penalty for spreading your attention around.

How dates work and why effort matters

Dates are not passive cutscenes. Each one drops you into a short interactive activity, and there are five of them: Pottery, Flower Arranging, Embroidery, Marshmallow Roasting, and Stargazing. The activity is tied to the person you go out with rather than something you pick. Noel, for example, only ever wants to do Embroidery, so Stargazing with him is off the table.

How well you perform actually counts. Phone it in or refuse to participate properly, and your partner gets annoyed at the end of the date. A weak effort can cost you a Heart, so treat each activity as a real minigame and match your partner’s preferences.

From 8 hearts to a proposal and wedding

Marriage requires that you are already dating a character and have raised them to 8 hearts. Once you are there, the path to a spouse follows a fixed sequence.

With 8 hearts reached, invite that character on another date. Complete the date as normal.
At the end of the date, when the two of you stand together on the love pier, the “Will you marry me?” option appears. Choose it, and your partner accepts.

You are taken to your Calendar to set a wedding date. It has to be at least two days after the proposal, with no upper limit on how far out you push it. Once it is locked in, your partner becomes your “Fiancé,” shown by a golden-bordered temporary 9th Heart.

The wedding ceremony

On the wedding day, a scripted cutscene fires the moment you climb out of your coffin, carrying you to the ceremony at the Town Hall. You are asked whether you accept the other person as your spouse.

  • Say “I do,” and you kiss your partner, the ceremony completes, and their status becomes “Spouse.”
  • Say “I don’t,” and the ceremony ends early. If you change your mind later, you have to start the whole process over.

To leave a ceremony, simply exit the Town Hall. After a completed wedding, your spouse moves into your farmhouse and begins each day alongside you, and marriage opens the 9 and 10 Heart Events. One of those 10 Heart Events lets you turn your spouse into a vampire if you want to.

Breaking up while dating

Ending a relationship before marriage runs through Llemi, the town’s resident love deity. He lives in The Pink Grove, tucked into the top-right corner of the map, which becomes reachable through Luna Bay after you unlock the Mermaid Form during “The Mermaid’s Wish” quest.

Talk to Llemi and pick the Break Up option. Your current relationship ends immediately. The character resets to “Friend” at 4 hearts, and any progress you made toward hearts 5 through 8 with them is wiped out.

Divorcing a spouse

Divorce also goes through Llemi. Speak to him and choose “I want to divorce [character name].” He will ask you to confirm several times, and if you keep insisting, he agrees and the divorce goes through.

To finalize it, sleep in your coffin. When you wake the next night, your spouse has moved out of the house, their status has dropped to “Friend” at 4 hearts, and they have no memory of ever being with you. From there you are free to chase other marriage candidates with no restrictions. If you had converted your spouse into a vampire through the 10 Heart Event, they revert to their normal self after the divorce.

The whole system is deliberately low-stakes. Because breakups and divorces are handled as magic rather than drama, there is no lasting reputation hit, which makes it easy to experiment with the roster until you find the resident you actually want to settle down with.
