Big Walk: How to Unlock the Train (Big Ride Achievement)

Restore the railway by completing the Blue Tower, cutting the key, and boarding to trigger the Big Ride trophy.

Restore the railway by completing the Blue Tower, cutting the key, and boarding to trigger the Big Ride trophy.

The railway tracks that wind across the island in Big Walk sit empty for the first several hours of play. Three trains, colored red, yellow, and green, are parked in place and loop the map on a single fixed track once they run. Getting them moving is not a matter of finding a lever. You need to power the railway by finishing the Blue Tower, then cutting and using a key at the station.

Quick answer: Collect five red gourd-shaped prizes from any puzzles, place them at the top of the Blue Tower to receive a key, cut that key at the five cutting machines around the tower base, then insert it at the train station control panel. Board the train that starts moving to unlock the Big Ride achievement.

What you need before starting

The train unlock is tied to the Blue Tower, which works the same way as the Red Tower you completed earlier. You reach the greater area with the colored towers after crossing the red bridge. From the Red Tower, head straight and cross the mountain to find the Blue Tower on the far side.

The Blue Tower sits beyond the mountain from the Red Tower.

The core requirement is five red prizes, the same gourd-shaped collectibles dispensed for solving puzzles. There is no fixed set. Any five prizes earned from puzzles anywhere on the island will count. The table below lists the key coordinates you will be working with.

Point of interestMap coordinates
Blue Tower (place prizes, get key)3540, 1850
Main train station (key slot)3380, 1740, northwest of the Blue Tower

Note: playing in a group of three or four does not change the puzzle logic. Higher player counts only raise the objective targets, such as extra buttons to press or higher point requirements. The steps and solutions stay the same whether you are a duo or a full squad.

Complete the Blue Tower to earn the key

Explore the area around the Blue Tower and solve puzzles until you have collected five of the red prizes. You can carry all five to the tower at once or drop them off one or two at a time, whichever suits your group.
Climb to the rooftop of the Blue Tower. You will find slots waiting for the prizes. Place each of the five into its case.
Once all five are inserted, a key is released at the top of the tower. Pick it up and carry it down to the front of the tower base.

Cut the key at the five machines

The raw key is not usable yet. It has to be shaped at five key-cutting machines placed around and down the mountain that holds the Blue Tower. Each machine reveals an arrow after use, pointing you toward the next one.

Use the first cutter by the door of the tower. When it finishes, the top of the machine shifts to show an arrow pointing back toward the other side of the mountain. Follow it.
Find the second cutter on the edge of the same mountain top, then continue in the direction its arrow indicates, moving further down the mountain.
Use the third cutter, also on the mountain edge, and keep descending along the path the arrow shows.
Reach the fourth cutter at a midway point on the mountain path. Its arrow points toward the final machine at the bottom.
Use the fifth cutter to finish shaping the key, then follow the last arrow toward the access point for the railway.

Insert the key and start the trains

The finished key goes into the control panel at the nearby building, the main train station northwest of the Blue Tower. Follow the red tracks to the slot and insert the key. The red train on the track ahead of you begins to move, and elsewhere on the map the green and yellow trains start their loops as well. All three now run continuously in the same direction.

Railway tracks running across the world in Big Walk
Tracks run across the island, with the trains looping once the railway is powered.

To confirm it worked, board the train that pulls up in front of you. Hopping aboard is what pops the Big Ride achievement. If the train has barely moved after a few minutes, that is normal. It travels slowly by design, and you will often outpace it on foot.

Riding and controlling the train

Once the railway is live, head to any train station to board. Each station shows the schedule so you can see when the next arrival is due. Wait for the train to stop at the platform before climbing on. You can also walk parallel to the track and jump aboard as it passes.

Stopping the train uses a single lever inside the first carriage. It has to be held to keep the train paused, so it will not wait for you indefinitely once you let go. Beyond travel, the train includes a few interactive touches for the whole group.

  • Blow the horn from the front of the train.
  • Control the train’s movement with the carriage lever.
  • Use the walkie-talkie and radio receiver to talk with other passengers, and with anyone on the map carrying a walkie-talkie.

The train is a reliable way to cover long distances and keep a group together, even if it is not the fastest option available. With the railway powered and the Big Ride trophy secured, it becomes another tool for reaching puzzles and stations across the island whenever walking gets tiring.
