Aion 2 Duty Missions and Commands: How to Unlock and Rewards to Pick

Hit level 45, unlock the Abyss, then reroll your daily quests for Hidden Cube keys, Odyle Energy, and Nightmare tickets without spending real money.

Repeatable Duty quests form the core of AION 2’s endgame progression. They grant Kina, Abyss Points, Odyle Energy, Soul Crystals, plus the keys and tickets needed to advance beyond the level cap. That makes finishing them part of a quick login routine, not something to skip. The system costs nothing to use; its only real expense is Kina earned in-game.

Quick answer: The Abyss unlocks when you reach level 45, finish your faction’s Episode quest, and have at least 1,000 Gear Score. In the Quest Journal (J), claim 5 daily Missions; buy Command Scrolls to get access to up to 20 weekly Commands.

What unlocks the Duty system

Duty access starts when you reach level 45 and make your first Abyss entry. The Abyss requirement cannot be bypassed, and you must satisfy three conditions in sequence.

Bring your character to the current cap of 45. The main story takes you to the Abyss as you progress, so reaching this point is usually part of the regular quest route.
Complete the Episode quest for your faction. Elyos characters need to finish Draupnir; Asmodians must complete Forgotten Commander, which Menrik gives you at the Fang Hideout in Altgard. Each quest takes you to the portal linking to the Abyss.
Enter through the Abyss portal. Access requires a 1,000 Gear Score minimum, so first upgrade your Belt and Amulet and collect Daevanion Points and Wisdom Stones in Strongholds and Sealed Dungeons. Once eligible, the in-game menu offers another way to reach the Abyss.

After your first trip inside, Duty quests appear in the Quest Journal and stay available from then on. If the Duty tab shows nothing, you have missed one of the three gates above.

Missions and Commands run on different timers

Missions and Commands share the Duty system, but differ in their schedules and how you take them. Missions are fast daily tasks selected in the journal; Commands are more difficult weekly assignments that you obtain by purchasing scrolls.

Missions work like daily bounties: choose five when you log in, and most take less than 20 minutes. The daily limit applies to your account on that server, so completing them with an alt uses the same five slots your main character has.

Commands use scrolls and offer a tougher challenge. Get them from a Command Merchant rather than the journal: pay Kina for scrolls, then activate them from your inventory whenever you choose. The capital and Abyss merchants carry different scrolls, with the Abyss stock focused on Abyss Points. Purchased scrolls stay in your bag, so you can complete them later; however, any weekly buying allowance left unused is lost at reset. Buy your scrolls before Wednesday, even if you intend to finish them afterward.

Which Duty rewards to chase

Every completed duty hands you a fixed basic payout of 1,000 Abyss Points and 50,000 Bound Kina, no matter which quest you took. The Wanted: Cunning Dmark bounty for Elyos, for example, pays exactly that on top of its random reward pool. Five clears a day add up to 5,000 Abyss Points and 250,000 Bound Kina before any rolls land, which is a steady base to build on.

The real decision is which random rewards a quest can roll. Here is how the pools rank for endgame value, from top picks down to filler.

TierRewardWhy it matters
Top SShugo Festival Reward KeyOpens the festival mini-game and shop for Daevanion Crystals, Radiant Odyle, refining stones, wings, and decor
SNightmare Dungeon Challenge TicketExtra boss runs and shop tokens for Soul Codex, Daevanion Crystals, Nightmare Wings, and the Colossus statue
SKey: Hidden Cube10 Selentium worth 50k Kina, Odyle Energy, and 1,000 Cogni Soul Crystals for Genus Insight
ASmall Odyle EnergyRecharges 10 Odyle Energy, used to open dungeon reward cubes worth 100k–400k Kina
BAscension Trial Challenge TicketManastones, Soulstones, pet chests, and Amplify Stone Fragments
CUnknown Fissure ticket, basic Pet CrystalsEnhancement stones and standard materials you already have in surplus

Shugo Festival Reward Keys sit at the top of the rankings because they unlock a mini-game with possible prizes including refining stones, Abyss Points, Radiant Odyle, and Unique or Epic gear. The related shop also offers wings, Daevanion Crystals, and Imperietum artwork for your Pantheon.

Nightmare Dungeon Challenge Tickets and Key: Hidden Cube share the next tier. Nightmare tickets buy more boss clears and trade-shop currency for Codex reset books, Daevanion Crystals, the best-in-slot Nightmare Wings, and the Colossus: Zikel’s Apparition statue. Hidden Cube keys are pure value density, pairing Selentium and Odyle Energy with a stack of Cogni Soul Crystals for the pet board.

Small Odyle Energy ranks just below because Odyle cannot be farmed infinitely, and every point of it you bank is another high-tier dungeon chest you can open later. Ascension Trial tickets are useful but drop to B tier, and Unknown Fissure tickets and basic pet crystals fill out C tier since the materials they give are rarely your bottleneck.

Read the odds before you accept

A quest can offer up to five rewards, but each slot has different odds. The random reward on the far left is guaranteed, and the chances decline from left to right, leaving the last item with the lowest odds. Select the small percent icon below a quest’s random rewards to check each item’s exact rate before accepting.

Be wary of bait quests: a low-probability cape or Special Soul Crystal as the top possible reward can look appealing but rarely pays out. A quest with at least a 33% chance to give you something you want is generally the stronger choice. If there is nothing better available, a low-odds reward slot is still worth considering, since a quest can also provide extra rewards.

Rerolling to lock in five good quests

If your five starting Missions only show filler, refresh the list with Kina. You can refresh the full pool up to 10 times per day, and the cost climbs each time: 200, 1,000, 2,500, 6,000, 14,000, 35,000, 85,000, then 200,000 Kina. The trick is to hold good quests in your active slots while you reroll the rest.

Open the Journal with J and go to the Duty tab. Inspect every quest on offer and check the reward odds.
Take quests that already show S- or A-tier rewards, as well as any placeholders you find acceptable. Keeping them in your active queue protects them from the refresh.
Pay the Kina refresh cost at the bottom of the panel to reroll the unselected pool, then browse the fresh list for guaranteed or high-rate Cube Keys, Odyle Energy, or Nightmare tickets.

If a newly rolled duty beats a placeholder you are holding, abandon the placeholder. Dropping a Mission carries no penalty and returns it to the pool, so you can accept the better one in its place.
Repeat until all five slots are optimal, and stop when the refresh price passes your budget. Most players draw the line at the 85,000 or 200,000 Kina tier rather than chasing a perfect fifth reward.

Command Scroll redraws work differently. Their rewards cannot be banked if you redraw, so avoid chasing expensive rerolls on scrolls, where the cost climbs toward 300,000 Kina.

Clearing your five Missions fast

Most Mission objectives require going into the open world to defeat a named target or a small number of enemies. Mark the objective on the regional map, teleport to the closest statue, and glide the remaining distance.

For kill objectives, use a skill that refreshes after a takedown to move through groups without pauses. Gladiator’s Leaping Slam serves this purpose, jumping to an enemy up to 20 meters away and carrying a 15-second cooldown. At skill level 8, its specialisation makes each defeated enemy reset that cooldown. Pick off mobs with little health to keep dashing between them and clear bounty packs fast.

Turning Hidden Cube keys into loot

A Key: Hidden Cube is only worth as much as the cubes you can find. Cubes emit a distinct high-pitched hum that carries through rock walls and cliff faces, so an audio tweak turns them into a sound you can follow.

Open Settings, then Audio. Set Master Volume and Sound Effects to 100%, and drop Music, Ambient, Monster, Voice, and Other Player volume to 0%. Keep Wings, Mount, and Spirit sound effects on, then glide through known cube clusters and steer toward the hum.

Dense cube clusters sit around High Commander Lagfa inside Lagfa Fortress, where a tight route can turn up several cubes in a few minutes. To cover ground between them faster, deploy your wings, dash forward, cancel the wings mid-dash to carry the momentum, then re-glide as speed drops.

Weekly ticket caps worth tracking

The dungeon tickets you pull from duties only refresh on a weekly timer, so extra copies from Mission rolls effectively buy you runs beyond the base allowance. Both of the entries below refill on the weekly reset and cannot be banked past their cap.

Entry ticketGained per weekMax heldWeekly reset
Unknown Fissure (Daily Dungeon)1414Wednesday
Ascension Trial33Wednesday

Despite the name, the Unknown Fissure “daily” dungeon runs off a weekly pool of 14 entries, so clearing two a day keeps you from leaving runs on the table before reset. Ascension Trial gives only three a week per character, so there is value in saving those entries for later in the week once your character is stronger and can push a higher difficulty.

Confirming the system is working

After your first visit to the Abyss, check the Quest Journal for Duty entries to confirm the system is active. The daily limit should read five Missions, and the weekly limit 20 Commands. When you finish a Mission, a reward collection screen displays the fixed amounts of 1,000 Abyss Points and 50,000 Bound Kina alongside any random rewards you received. If the Duty tab is empty, you still need to reach level 45, complete your faction’s Episode quest, or meet the 1,000 Gear Score requirement for Abyss entry.
