The Ancient Ruins Apparatus is a Normal-rank creature found in the open world of AION 2, sitting at level 24–25. It attacks on sight, so expect it to engage as soon as you come within range. On the Asmodian side, Altgard is where you will find it, and every one of its 22 marked spots lies in Uruthumheim. With the whole population concentrated in a single area, Uruthumheim is the only place worth heading to, and characters around level 24–25 will find the fights comfortable.

To get there quickly, teleport to the Minushan Site statue, which stands about 170 m from the Apparatus spots in Uruthumheim, a short walk before the first encounter. The main reason to make the trip is the Episode quest Finding Stolen Relics, which asks you to defeat 2 of them. Completing it rewards 668,448 XP, Kina (Bound) x13,000 and a Chaser Breastplate x1, a worthwhile return for a brief detour.
