The Trained Karnif is a level 20 Normal-rank creature in the open world, and it attacks on sight, so expect it to come at you as soon as you get close. On the Elyos side it lives in Verteron, where all 12 of its marked spots sit in the Verteron Fortress Ruins. With every spawn gathered in that one area, the ruins are the only place you need to go.

The nearest teleport statue is Collapsed Pillar, about 140 m from the ruins. Every kill drops Soul: Modified Karnif (Bound), and some also give Fresh Raw Meat at 2.4%, Raw Leather at 1.9% and Refining Stone at 0.32%. Pieces of Forgotten armour drop at between 0.08% and 0.16%, and Rainy Forest Gloves, a Rare item, at 0.06%. Two quests also send you here. Mass Layoffs is a Duty that asks for 20 kills and pays 1,000 Abyss Points and 50,000 Kina (Bound). Festival Preparations: Verteron Fortress Ruins II is a repeatable Duty that needs 15 kills.
