Modern Warfare 4 arrives on 23 October 2026 with 12 fresh Core 6v6 maps. Activision revealed the complete lineup on 21 August 2026. Six featured in the open beta; the remaining six debut with the game. Also joining the lineup are Kill Block, a Gunfight arena that reconfigures itself, and several expansive Ground War maps.

Quick answer: Modern Warfare 4 launches with 12 fresh Core 6v6 maps. Six appeared in the beta: Transit 213, Lotus, Cachette, Silkworm, Rooftops and Lithium. The remaining maps are Sentry, Coal, Nautical, Reactor U92, Mumbai and Munition.

The six Core maps from the open beta

If you played the beta, these will feel familiar. Five showed up in the first weekend, and the sixth was added later in the test.

Cachette

A hidden weapons cache tucked into a former wine warehouse and car garage next to a French train terminal. Cobblestone streets, stacked containers, rooftops and cramped rooms open up plenty of flanking paths and second-floor routes. Callouts you’ll hear include Backlot, Central Containers, Front Gate, Armory, Lounge, Garage and Server Room.

Lithium

A lithium refinery under assault in rural Mexico, beneath the Sierra mountains. The industrial buildings favor mid-range gunfights. Garage doors run on a button that can open them fully or drop them halfway, and you can slide under a half-closed door. Key spots are the Runoff Area, the Refinery and the eastern Road.

Lotus

The landing has left a Korean coastal village deserted, with tanks abandoned and buildings ablaze. Expect tight fights around the gardens, market, homes, boathouse and hostel, while the main road offers longer sightlines. Callouts: Water, Fish Market, Restaurant, Docks, Hostel and Boathouse.

Rooftops

Snow blankets the rooftops of New York’s “Hotel Times West”. Routes weave past skylights, a greenhouse, laundry room, patio, boiler room, pigeon coop and HVAC platforms, linking compact interiors with outdoor walkways. Areas are called Scaffolding, Electrical Room, Laundry, Construction, Patio and Catwalk.

Silkworm

Centered on a subway entrance, this South Korean retail district is bustling, with apartments, alleys, a gaming den and a convenience store. Fights take place on the street at close and medium ranges. Parked cars along Main Street can be set alight and detonated. Callouts: Warehouse, Main Street, Basketball Court, Convenience Store and Game Room.

Transit 213

Nature is reclaiming a bus depot in western India, where colorful paint still covers the rusted buses. Around the depot sit tenement blocks, a repair shop and a small gas station. Bus rows form tight corridors, but the Center Lot has clear, lengthy sightlines.

The six Core maps new at launch

None of these were in the beta. You’ll see them for the first time on 23 October.

Coal

The wreck of a Soviet-era coal plant deep in the mountains. A toppled smokestack, ore chutes and processing buildings slope down toward a dirty river and its flood plain.

Mumbai

A wanted man’s hiding place inside a dense Indian neighborhood. The blocks are built around a Victorian-era market, and a train line runs straight through them.

Munition

This functioning North Korean command base contains several hangars, a water tower, a crane and skybridge, as well as monitoring rooms and a sizable munitions depot.

Nautical

A South Korean ferry escaping a war zone as the sun comes up. Debris litters the decks, and fires burn along the starboard side and the bow.

Reactor U92

A Korean nuclear facility in the middle of a meltdown. A wide, curved control room with failing electrics wraps around a boiling containment pool in the center.

Sentry

A North Korean base under attack during a whiteout. A maintenance garage, a generator room and a substation ring a central command center and a barracks that’s partly blown apart.

Kill Block: The modular Gunfight map

Kill Block is not among the 12 Core maps. Instead, it is the Westbridge Training Facility: three Slabs, arranged as two End Slabs and one Central Slab, connect to form a “Combo”. Its layout shifts from round to round, offering more than 500 configurations at launch. Certain Slabs bring rain or snow, while others recreate classic areas such as Highrise, Crash and Shoot House.

  • At launch, Gunfight is available in 3v3, along with the new 10v10 version.
  • Gunfight gets a different layout and shared randomized loadout after each two-round stretch.
  • More Core modes are set to follow after launch.
  • Activision also lists dedicated Gunfight maps at launch beyond Kill Block.

Ground War maps named so far for Combat Outpost

Combat Outpost is a Ground War mode for 24v24, featuring both vehicles and infantry. It expands Domination’s three-flag format across a vast battlefield. Captured Outposts give your team additional spawn locations; reinforce them to earn team rewards, including armored vehicles at the top end. Activision has confirmed several large-scale maps for launch, though just two names are public, and each is located in the Hajin region, the same city DMZ is set in.

MapTerrainNotable features
Imjin FarmlandsRural edge of HajinFields, waterways, rail lines, large mill
Wolves StadiumDense downtownAmphitheater stage, ladders, ascenders

Imjin Farmlands is wide open, with farms, roads and long sightlines that give vehicles room to move. A launcher helps against vehicles on the flat roads. Wolves Stadium is the opposite. It has defensible spots like the amphitheater stage, which vehicles have trouble reaching, plus pipes, ladders and ascenders for quick climbs. Both were playable in the beta.

Zodiac is a Warzone map, not a 6v6 map

Zodiac appeared in the second beta weekend as a Warzone Resurgence map, rather than in Modern Warfare 4’s multiplayer rotation. Zodiac and Hajin come to Warzone in Season 1, which Infinity Ward has announced for 6 November 2026.
