Aniimo: How to Complete the Everlasting Echoback Song Journey in Echoback Landing

Activate the Echonites at night, trace the resonance trail across the whale bones, and claim your painting from Sorora.

Activate the Echonites at night, trace the resonance trail across the whale bones, and claim your painting from Sorora.

At Echoback Landing, Everlasting Echoback Song is the whale-bone Journey centered on a painter unable to complete a memory. In daylight, the puzzle can seem broken: the blue crystals along the shore respond only after night falls. Set the time to night, then follow the light to continue.

Quick answer: Find Sorora, the painter beside the whale bones at Echoback Landing. Change the world time to night, then hit the Echonites in the direction indicated by each resonance trail until the whale scene begins. Speak with Sorora again to complete the Journey.

Find Sorora at Echoback Landing

Echoback Landing lies in the northwest corner of the map, within the Breezy Plains region. This pink-sand shore surrounds an enormous whale skeleton, and the recommended level is 37 to 41. Fast travel to the Echoback Landing Bloom, then ride along the coast toward the easel on the rocks.

Tracking the Journey places its marker near -1598, 1553. Check your route on the world map to make sure you’re heading to the right beach; several points of interest are close together in this region.

Sorora is the artist at the easel. Start the opening scene by speaking to her: she recounts the Echoback legend and asks you to help preserve the memory. Continue through the conversation until the Journey is listed in your Log; its initial target leads to a blue crystal covered in vines along the shore.

Set the time to night before touching the Echonites

Night is a required quest condition for the blue crystals, known as Echonites. They look the same during daylight, but won’t react; even the right-looking crystal may fail to start the chain. Open the clock and set the world to Nighttime before interacting with them.

Vines hide the first Echonite close to the bones. Use Twine to pair with a Fire-type Aniimo, then use Aim to burn through the vines before striking the crystal. Any fire partner will do; Flameruff and Scorchhowl are both suitable.

Follow the resonance trail through the whale bones

Follow the light trail rather than the map marker. Randomly striking blue crystals won’t advance the chain; you must hit the active node indicated by the resonance. Active Echonites shimmer faintly, so leave untouched any plain crystal the trail hasn’t reached.

Hit the first active Echonite beside the bones. A bright sphere of resonance forms, projecting a narrow blue beam across the shore.
Turn to locate the next crystal along the blue beam, and don’t strike anything else first. Twine with crawling, flying, or fire Aniimo when needed to reach the nodes, removing obstructing vines or breakable rocks along the way.
Activating shoreline crystals

Look skyward whenever the trail rises above the ground. It crosses the whale-bone arches, passes over submerged ledges, and continues to small islets in the water; follow its upward path instead of searching only at beach level.
Segunda econita

Take advantage of the traversal options along the route. Bounce points and climbing spots bring you closer to the next node, whereas flying across the full gap can use up stamina and bypass the intended approach.
Continue activating nodes until the final Echonite completes the resonance circle. The cutscene starts at that point, so there are no more crystals to find once it begins.

If the resonance trail disappears, return to the last Echonite you lit and hit it again; this restores the trail. Check that nighttime is still active, then follow the link onward. You don’t need to restart the Journey.

Watch the whale scene, then return to Sorora

The final Echonite triggers a cinematic: constellations align as a giant astral whale rises into the night sky, singing to the young in the water. Check the changed objective to confirm the puzzle has progressed; the whale’s appearance alone isn’t the confirmation.

Swim back to shore and talk to Sorora once more. She offers names for the finished painting, including Symphony of Reunion and Echoes of a Vigil, then shows the completed canvas, depicting the starry night and glowing Echobacks. Your choice of title determines which painting you receive.

If the Journey remains incomplete after the whale scene, its closing conversation is still pending. Speak to the painter again before you leave the region.

The Whalesong Blossom is a separate pickup

After the whale scene, an unusual flower called the Whalesong Blossom blooms on the north side of the beach. This is tied to the Echoback perfume branch, A Fragrant Journey: Echoback Landing, and it is a separate collection objective. Finishing the whale story does not pick it up or hand it in for you.

Pick the blossom, travel to Bloomville, and hand it to Elvira. She makes the Whisper of Longing perfume from it and gives the perfume to you, finishing her part of the story. If that perfume objective remains open, check its branch separately in your Log.

These are two distinct Journeys: Everlasting Echoback Song and Stars and the Knight. Omega Sherro becomes available through Stars and the Knight. The Echonite puzzle still needs to be solved; neither a boss fight nor a regular whale swimming offshore can take its place. Follow the resonance chain rather than treating a nearby battle as part of the puzzle.
