Budsquire has two looks in Aniimo, and the Towerwood Form is the one tied to a single stretch of forest. It is a Grass DPS at the Lumin Stage, it carries the same Sword Dance trait as the standard form, and it is the version you need if you want a Thornblade that came out of Rosetower Woods.

Quick answer: Catch it wild in Rosetower Woods in Breezy Plains. Spawns sit along the main path at levels 43–50 and ignore weather and time of day.

Budsquire Towerwood Form location and spawn conditions

Rosetower Woods is the only habitat for this form. The basic Budsquire also turns up in the Sea of Flowers, so if you catch one there, you are not getting the Towerwood version. Everything you need is inside one zone, and the population is dense enough that a single lap down the path usually gives you several chances.

The area itself is tuned for roughly level 44 to 51 players, so bring a team that can survive a stray aggro while you line up a throw. Wild Budsquire here are not rare spawns and they do not rotate out, which means a failed catch is never a long wait.

How to find and catch it in Rosetower Woods

Open the in-game map and move to Breezy Plains, then find the Rosetower Woods block. Select Budsquire in the habitat view so the green spawn markers appear over the zone.

Fast travel in and close the map. The markers cluster around a ridge and the lower path running through the woods, and you can simply run that route on foot rather than hunting individual points.

Approach a Budsquire from behind before you throw. A Backstab applies a x1.5 multiplier to your catch odds, and it costs nothing but a slightly wider approach angle.
Throw an Anipod. A basic Anipod works on a healthy wild target, but an Anipod Mega stacks its own multiplier on top of the Backstab bonus and can push the attempt into Guaranteed Success territory.
If the catch fails, keep moving down the path instead of resetting. Multiple Budsquire sit within a short run of each other, usually at levels 44 and 45, so you get another attempt almost immediately.

A successful catch registers the form separately in your Aniilog, so a Towerwood Budsquire fills its own entry even if you already have the basic version logged. Registering it pays out Growth Bud x3.

Towerwood Budsquire stats, trait, and skills

The Towerwood Form is a front-line attacker with thin defenses. It has no mobility skill and only two combat skills, so its damage comes from stacking its trait and keeping basic attacks flowing rather than from a complex rotation.

  • Sword Dance (trait) — every skill use grants one stack, up to four, lasting 15 seconds. Each basic attack spends a stack for 180 percent extra damage.
  • Thorny Defense — 20 EP, power 75, 6 second cooldown. Counter stance that cuts incoming damage by 20 percent and adds 30 percent crit rate for 15 seconds if you are hit as it activates.
  • Thorny Impact — 20 EP, power 57, 1 second cooldown. A forward thrust that grants 15 percent crit rate for 15 seconds on hit.
  • ATK (innate) — power 6 close-range Grass attack, and the payload for your Sword Dance stacks.
  • Homeland abilities — Grass Lv. 1 and Artisanship Lv. 1.

Elementally it takes 1.6x damage from Fire, Wind, and Dark, and only 0.625x from Grass, Rock, and Water. It deals 1.6x back against Rock and Water. With low durability and below-average energy regen, it is happiest alongside a healer or a high-BREAK partner rather than solo tanking.

How to evolve Towerwood Budsquire into Thornblade

The evolution is gated behind a fight, not just a level. You need all three conditions met before the option appears.

Thornblade
Thornblade. Image: Pawprint Studio
  • Budsquire at Aniimo level 27
  • Defeat a Thornblade with a party that contains only a Budsquire
  • Sprout Stone x1 to pay the evolution cost

Strip every other Aniimo out of your active party first, leaving the single Budsquire. Wild Thornblade live in the Sea of Flowers around levels 19 to 28, which makes the fight manageable for a level 27 Budsquire even with its low HP pool. Lean on Thorny Defense for the counter window and let Sword Dance stacks carry the damage.

You have to defeat the Thornblade, not catch it. Throwing an Anipod and succeeding voids the requirement, so leave the pods in your bag for that fight.

How to confirm it worked

For the catch, the throw resolves with a Guaranteed Success or standard success prompt and the Budsquire appears in your roster tagged as the Towerwood Form. Reporting it in the Aniilog returns 100 Credits alongside the Growth Bud payout.

For the evolution unlock, watch the left side of the screen after the Thornblade goes down. A pop-up reading “a remarkable change is about to happen” means the solo-party condition registered, and the Thornblade branch will be selectable on that Budsquire once it hits level 27 and you have the Sprout Stone in hand.
