Susuta is a Water-element BREAK Aniimo in the Lumin stage, and it has two wild appearances. The standard grey version is the one most players run into first. The Nighttime Form is a separate entry in the Aniilog, with night-black fur and heavy dark circles under its eyes, and it will never show up while the sun is out.
Quick answer: Travel to Echoback Landing in Breezy Plains at night, find the black-furred Susuta walking the shoreline, and catch it with an Anipod.
Nighttime Susuta location: Echoback Landing in Breezy Plains
Echoback Landing is the only habitat for this form. It sits on the western coast of the Breezy Plains region and is marked on the world map at Lv. 43-44, though individual wild Susuta can appear well below that, down around level 38. Open the map, set a marker on the coastal stretch, and fast travel to the nearest point before nightfall so you are already in position.

Time of day is the whole trigger here. Susuta sleeps during the day, so the nighttime variant is the version that roams once the in-game clock rolls over. If you arrive and only see grey Susuta, you are still in daylight hours and need to wait for night.

Both versions share the same silhouette and can be on the beach at the same time, so check the coat colour before you spend an Anipod. The basic form is grey. The Nighttime Form is black and white, reading almost like a panda, with pronounced dark rings around its eyes. The Aniilog explains the look as the result of digging for treasure all night long.

Susuta spawns in the shallow water as well as on the sand, so sweep the waterline and not just the beach.
How to catch Nighttime Susuta

How to confirm you caught the right form
The card that pops after the capture is the check. It reads No. 049 Susuta with Nighttime Form labelled underneath, along with the line about the dark circles under its eyes meaning it is bed time. If the card shows the basic form instead, you caught a grey Susuta and need to go back out for the black-furred one.
Nighttime Susuta stats, trait, and skills
| Stat | Value | Stat | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| 81 | M.DEF | 80 | |
| 61 | P.DEF | 53 | |
| 72 | REGEN | 64 | |
| Total | 411 | Stage | Lumin |
The spread leans into magic defence and BREAK rather than raw damage, which matches its BREAK role. Out of combat it carries Swim Lv. 1 for pathfinding, so it can cross water you would otherwise have to go around.
Its trait is Appeal. On entering battle, if your team also has a Susuta family member of the opposite sex, Nighttime Susuta gains 30% BREAK efficiency for 15 seconds, on a 20 second cooldown. That makes pairing a male and a female Susuta worth the party slot if you are building around breaking enemies.
| Skill | EP cost | Power | Tags |
|---|---|---|---|
| Water Cannon | 20 | 65 | Puddle, BREAK |
| 20 | 74 | Push |
Water Cannon leaps up and throws a large water ball that deals area damage and leaves a puddle behind. Water Dash charges the target, deals damage and knocks it back. Both are physical Water attacks on a 1 second cooldown.
As a Water Aniimo it deals extra damage to Fire and Earth targets, takes reduced damage from Fire, Water, Earth and Dark, and is vulnerable to Grass, Lightning and Ice.
How to evolve Nighttime Susuta
Every step in this line has to happen at night. Evolving during the day pushes the Aniimo down the basic-form branch instead, so plan the level-ups around the in-game clock.

Nighttime Popota (Gamma stage)
- Nighttime Susuta at Lv. 29
- Must be nighttime
- No materials required
Nighttime Piopiota (Nova stage, Dark)
- Nighttime Popota at Lv. 39
- Draw the attention of a Susuta of the other gender and make it follow you.
- Its personality includes both Energetic and Playful.
- Must be nighttime
- Costs Wave Stone x3
Nighttime Panpanta (Nova stage, Water)
- Unlock the path by defeating the Alpha Panpanta
- Nighttime Popota at Lv. 39
- Instinctive and Judicious are both among its personality traits.
- Must be nighttime
- Costs Wave Stone x3
Personality decides which Nova branch is even available to you, and wild Susuta roll Cheerful or Sensitive at a 50/50 split, so it is worth catching more than one while you are already on the beach. Resonance upgrades for this form draw on Susuta Dewdrop Crystal, Breezy Plains Dewdrop Crystal and Wave Stone, and the crystals come from the same species and region you are farming anyway.
