Thornblade is Aniimo No. 034, a Grass-type DPS in the Nova stage. Its Towerwood Form is tied to one corner of the map, and you can either catch a wild one outright or raise a Budsquire and evolve it. Both paths end in the same woods, so the only real decision is whether you spend catch items or spend levels.
Quick answer: Catch the Towerwood Form in Rosetower Woods (Breezy Plains) along the eastern cliffside near coordinates 0590, 0665 using an Anipod Mega, or evolve a Lv. 27 Budsquire (Towerwood Form) while standing in the same woods.
Thornblade No. 034 spawn locations
Thornblade appears in two areas of Breezy Plains, but the form changes with the region. The earliest Thornblade you can meet turns up in the Sea of Flowers at a low level, while the Towerwood Form is the higher-level variant that only roams Rosetower Woods.

| Region | Level range | Form |
|---|---|---|
| 19–28 | Basic Thornblade | |
| 43–50 | Towerwood Form |
Rosetower Woods is found in Breezy Plains, with a recommended range of Lv. 44–51. Wild Towerwood Thornblades are usually around Lv. 45, and Lv. 49 encounters are frequent. This form’s level range is the main hurdle: enter too weak, and nearby enemies can finish the fight before you throw an Anipod. For a dependable search, check the eastern ledge and cliffside by the maze, where multiple Thornblades may roam.

Should your party defeat Thornblade before you get a chance to throw, fast travel somewhere else and change the time of day to make it return.
Alternative area: Sea of Flowers
Earlier in your Breezy Plains progress, you can find another Thornblade guarding a chest in the Sea of Flowers. It is partly buried beside the chest, with a few Budsquires nearby. This lower-level area is handy before your team can manage Rosetower Woods. To respawn it, fast travel away and change the time of day if you defeat it before catching it.

Evolving Budsquire (Towerwood Form) into Thornblade
Towerwood Budsquire lives in the same area, so you can catch one during that visit and train it as an alternative. Its evolution depends on meeting specific conditions, and all of them must be met simultaneously.

- A Budsquire (Towerwood Form) at Lv. 27 or higher.
- Defeat a wild Thornblade using a party with the Budsquire as its only member.
- Be standing in Rosetower Woods when you evolve it.
- Sprout Stone x1, obtained by defeating Alpha Leafy.
The requirement to win alone is easy to overlook. Remove all other creatures from your party, then have Budsquire defeat a wild Thornblade by itself. In Rosetower Woods, both the required opponent and the required location are right there.
Budsquire can evolve along two different branches. A separate condition set leads to Melloblum, so keep a Budsquire intended for Thornblade away from that route.
Confirming the catch and rewards
Catching or evolving one records the Towerwood Form in particular. Verify the registration in the Aniilog at entry No. 034. Its first-time registration awards Growth Flower x2, while submitting a report earns 100 Credits. A catch also advances your Thornblade Special Form collection progress and increases your Collaboration Ability Level by +1.

After you register the form, you can select it for that Aniimo from the Change Form menu. When it is not in your party, leave it in the Homeland: its Grass and Artisanship abilities can plant seeds, collect resources, or craft goods while you return to find another one.
Thornblade (Towerwood Form) stats and skills
The Towerwood Form is 1.6m tall, weighs 6kg, and has Grass element level 3. Its Grass typing means fire, wind, and dark attacks deal 1.6x damage, while grass, water, and earth attacks deal 0.625x.

| Stat | Value | Stat | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| 96 | P.DEF | 74 | |
| 121 | M.DEF | 73 | |
| 53 | REGEN | 92 |
Sword Dance is its trait. Using a skill adds a stack, up to four, and stacks last 15 seconds; each basic attack consumes one to deal 180% extra damage. Use skills to build stacks, then spend them with basic attacks. Both dash skills increase Crit Rate on a hit. Thorny Defense retaliates when Thornblade is struck, and activating it on the exact frame an attack lands boosts Crit Rate by 30% for 15 seconds.
| Skill | EP cost | Power |
|---|---|---|
| Thorny Defense | 20 | 75 |
| Thorny Impact | 20 | 57 |
| Thorny Rain | 10 | 30 |
| 0 | 172 |
With the Towerwood Form logged and its stats in hand, you have both routes covered: sweep the eastern cliffside of Rosetower Woods with a stack of Anipod Megas, or raise a Budsquire in the same woods and satisfy its evolution conditions all at once.
