How to Get Every Secret Unit (8th Sword and Shadow) in Anime Expeditions

Both Secret-tier fighters, their exact drop rates, pity thresholds, and full passive kits laid out for the July 2026 roster.

Both Secret-tier fighters, their exact drop rates, pity thresholds, and full passive kits laid out for the July 2026 roster.

Secret units sit at the very top of the Anime Expeditions roster, above Mythic and every other rarity. There are only two of them right now, and neither comes from a normal summon flow. One drops from a raid, the other hides behind an extreme banner roll, and both take serious grinding to secure.

Quick answer: Clear Spirit City Raid Act 3 for a 1% chance at 8th Sword (Berserk), guaranteed after 35 total clears. Roll the Standard Banner with Gems for a 0.01% chance at Shadow (Divine), guaranteed at the 10,000-summon pity (500,000 Gems).

Both Secret units and how to obtain them

As of July 2026, the Secret tier holds exactly two characters. They use completely different acquisition systems, so plan your resources around whichever one you want first.

UnitSourceDrop ratePity
8th Sword (Berserk)
8th Sword (Berserk)
Spirit City Raid Act 31%One-time drop after 35 Raid clears
Shadow (Divine)
Shadow (Divine)
Standard Banner (Gems)0.01%One-time at 10,000 summons (500,000 Gems)

You can bank the Gems needed for Shadow’s pity faster by redeeming active Anime Expeditions rewards, since the Standard Banner is the only route to that unit.

How to get 8th Sword (Berserk)

8th Sword is a raid drop, not a summon. It only appears after you finish the hardest wave content tied to Spirit City.

Reach and clear Spirit City Raid Act 3. Each successful clear rolls a 1% chance for 8th Sword to drop directly into your inventory.
Keep re-running the raid if the unit does not drop. Every clear counts toward the pity total, so no run is wasted.
Complete the Raid 35 times total to trigger the one-time guaranteed drop. This removes the RNG entirely for players willing to grind the count.

Tip: Lock the unit immediately once it lands. Secret drops are rare enough that an accidental sell or fodder is a costly mistake.

8th Sword (Berserk) passive abilities

PassiveEffect
Demonic PresenceEnemies within 40% range take 5% of this unit’s current damage every 1 second.
Dismemberer’s RushActivates when an enemy in range falls below 10% health. Unrestrained Rage deals 100% damage.
The Nameless DemonAfter 25 takedowns, Berserk State runs for 15 seconds: +20% damage, -10% SPA, and Dismembered applied on every hit.
Savage ReboundStun is cleansed instantly when the unit is stunned. Thunderclap Cut deals 100% damage, and all follow-up hits apply Dismembered.

The combination of range damage, an execute below 10% health, and the Berserk ramp makes 8th Sword the highest raw DPS pick for late-game grinding.

How to get Shadow (Divine)

Shadow comes from summoning, but at a punishing rate. It is the rarest banner pull in the game.

Save up Gems. You will need a large stockpile because the drop rate is only 0.01% per pull on the Standard Banner.
Reroll on the Standard Banner using Gems. Every summon adds to your pity counter toward the guaranteed unit.
If you never hit the roll, the one-time pity delivers Shadow at 10,000 summons, which costs 500,000 Gems. That is the hard ceiling on the grind.

Shadow (Divine) abilities

AbilityEffect
Divine Spirit (Active)Summoning it stuns Shadow for 15 seconds. The spirit can’t be killed, stunned, or de-spawned and deals 100% of Shadow’s damage.
Shadow Realm (Active)Transforms the map for 30 seconds: +25% damage to all Magic units, plus Shadow Rewind on enemies within 50% of Shadow’s range, usable up to twice per enemy.
Winged Spirit (Passive)Deals 50% of this unit’s damage every 8 seconds, circling within 50% of Shadow’s range.
Wolf Spirit (Passive)Spawns a Wolf Spirit at Shadow’s position that is upgraded independently.

Shadow’s map-wide Magic buff and persistent summons make it one of the strongest crowd-control and support carries, especially on maps packed with enemies.

Confirming you unlocked a Secret unit

A successful drop or pull adds the unit to your inventory with its distinct Secret border. Until you own it, the character shows as a silhouette in the unit index. Once it appears with full art and its name, the unlock is done. Lock it right away so it can’t be sold by accident.

Both Secret units are best treated as end-game collection and flex goals rather than early progression targets. Build a solid Mythic roster first, then commit the raid runs or Gem stockpile needed to add 8th Sword and Shadow to your lineup.
