Unbound is the rarest trait in Anime Expeditions, sitting at a 0.1% roll chance with a 1,500-roll pity counter behind it. Rolling it the normal way costs an enormous pile of Trait Crystals. The Dragon’s Wish event skips that entirely and hands the trait over for free, provided you finish seven chapters of quests and claim the reward before the event window closes.
Quick answer: Open the Events menu, select Dragon’s Wish, and complete every quest in all seven Orb chapters. Once all seven orbs are lit, press Redeem Wish and pick the unit that receives the Unbound trait.
What the Unbound trait does
Unbound is a Mythic-rarity trait and the strongest single trait in the game by raw output. The tradeoff is a hard placement limit, so the unit carrying it can only be deployed once per run.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Damage | +350% |
| SPA (seconds per attack) | -5% |
| Range | +10% |
| Placement limit | One unit placement |
| Roll chance | 0.1% (1,500 pity) |
That placement clause is why the choice of recipient matters. A unit you would only ever field once loses nothing. A cheap unit you normally spam three or four copies of across the lane becomes weaker with Unbound than it would be with Primordial, which gives +35% damage, -15% SPA, and +20% range with no restriction.

Dragon’s Wish is attached to Update 1.0 and stays live until Update 2 lands. There is no confirmed date for that changeover, so treat the event page in the Events menu as the only reliable indicator that the reward is still claimable. Once Update 2 goes live, the Dragon’s Wish page stops functioning and the free trait is gone.
One restriction gets misread constantly. Some versions of the event reward lock the free Unbound to a Dragon unit only, meaning older units from other categories cannot receive it. Check the Redeem Wish screen before you plan around a specific recipient. Alongside the trait, the reward path also grants the Fierce Dragon flying mount.
Orbs unlock on a staggered timer rather than all at once. New quest sets appear roughly every 24 hours, so finishing the full chain takes several days of logging in, not a single sitting.
The seven Wish Orb chapters
Each chapter bundles a handful of tasks pulled from different parts of the game. Clear every task in a chapter, claim its rewards, and the corresponding orb lights up in the Dragon’s Wish interface. Here is what the chapters ask for.
| Chapter | Main requirements |
|---|---|
| 1 | Clear East Town Act 1 on Hard Mode, complete a daily challenge, find Wish Orb 1 in East Town, obtain a Dragon unit, win one round of Guess That Unit, obtain one equipment piece, claim three daily quests, clear any East Town act on hard five times |
| 2 | Complete Encounter nodes in East Town Expedition, clear wave 50 in East Town Infinite |
| 3 | Daily quests and mastery requirements, standard banner summons, infinite stage clears, locate Wish Orb III in East Town Act 1 Normal Story |
| 4 | Regular challenges, further encounter nodes, infinite wave targets |
| 5 | Interact with The Drink (Juicebox) at an encounter node, defeat the East Town Expedition boss |
| 6 | Find Wish Orb VI in East Town story mode, clear Boss Bounty contracts (Bioinsect Jr in Rose Kingdom Act 1) |
| 7 | Reach Floor 50+ in Tower mode |
Working through the orb quests

Finding the hidden Wish Orbs
Three chapters require you to physically locate an orb inside a story map rather than clear an objective. Wish Orb 1, Wish Orb III, and Wish Orb VI are all found in East Town, and spawn spots vary between runs, so expect to walk the map.
Wish Orb III sits near the building cluster in East Town Act 1 on Normal Story. Wish Orb VI is tucked behind the orange building. Enter on Normal difficulty so nothing interrupts the search, and sweep the map edges and building gaps rather than sticking to the lane.
Redeeming the wish and confirming it applied
With all seven orbs collected, the Dragon’s Wish interface swaps to a Redeem Wish option. Selecting it opens a unit picker, and whichever unit you confirm gets the Unbound trait permanently. There is no undo, so decide before you press confirm.
The claim worked if a cutscene plays. The seven orbs converge above the lobby and summon a large red dragon, after which the Fierce Dragon mount is added to your account. Open the Units menu and check the chosen unit’s trait line to verify Unbound is attached, along with the +350% damage figure on its stat sheet.
The two things that stop the redemption from appearing are unclaimed quest rewards and chapters that look finished but still have one task outstanding. Reopen each chapter tab and confirm every line is claimed before assuming a quest is bugged.
Choosing the right unit for Unbound
Because of the one-placement clause, Unbound belongs on units whose damage scales through a single expensive copy. Units whose summons or follow-up hits read from their own damage stat gain the most, since one multiplier lifts every source of output at once.
| Situation | Best pick |
|---|---|
| You can only afford to max one placement in a run | Unbound |
| Unit is cheap and you field three or four copies | Primordial (+35% DMG, -15% SPA, +20% Range) |
| Damage comes from burn or bleed ticks | Draconic (+50% DoT damage) |
| Damage comes from crits and follow-up hits | Forsaken (+35% crit chance and crit damage) |
Note: crit traits do nothing for burn ticks, bleed pools, or several summon effects, so match the trait to where the damage actually comes from rather than to its tier ranking.
Once the wish is spent, the only route back to Unbound is the Trait Reroll stand in the Upgrades lobby, which sits between the Crafting and Evolving stations and costs one Trait Crystal per attempt. At 0.1% with a 1,500-roll pity, that is a long grind, and every reroll wipes whatever trait the unit currently holds. Set your filters before holding the reroll button, and keep your crystals pointed at Secret and evolved Mythic units rather than anything you plan to bench.
