Cursed Lover is the Yuta Okkotsu unit in Anime Origins, and he sits at the top of the release meta for one reason: he steals other units’ active abilities. Everything else about him — the beam, the cursed heads, the damage numbers — is good but not unique. The Copy passive is what makes him worth grinding a rift for.

Quick answer: Clear the Shibuya Metro rift. Each clear has a 2% chance to drop Cursed Lover, and the 40th clear without a drop gives him to you outright.

Where Cursed Lover drops and how the pity works

Cursed Lover is a Secret rarity unit and he only comes out of the Rift game mode — specifically the Shibuya Metro rift. He is not on the summon banner, so no amount of gem rolling will produce him.

A rift portal spawns every three hours on a server and stays open for 30 minutes. The schedule runs from 5:00 am EDT / 9:00 am UTC onward. Inside that half-hour window you can enter and re-clear the stage as many times as your squad can handle, and every completed clear is its own 2% roll plus one tick toward pity.

The portal can appear anywhere on the map, so the timer in the bottom right of the lobby is the thing to watch. Once it hits zero you have to actually go find the thing before the 30 minutes burn down.

A rift setup that clears solo

Shibuya Metro is 30 waves and takes roughly seven minutes at 2× speed. A solo run needs four jobs covered.

Bring two farm units — Leorio and Bulma both work. Rift income is tight early and your whole clear speed depends on getting the DPS upgraded before the later waves.
Add a unit with two or more placements to handle rubble. An unevolved Meliodas is the cheap option here.
Slot one hill unit for the flying enemies. Akeno or Vegeta cover it.
Fill the last slot with your strongest ground DPS and pre-place a unit on each rubble point, upgrading it once. Rubble health climbs every wave, and a rubble pile that stops a train spawns extra enemies from the back of the map.

Each clear pays out 1,500 gems, player XP, and 50 to 55 Cursed Tickets alongside the Yuta roll. That ticket number matters more than it looks, and it’s the reason the grind doesn’t feel wasted even on a run that drops nothing.

Evolution materials for Cursed Lover (Pure Love)

Cursed Lover evolves into Cursed Lover (Pure Love) at the Mokito NPC in the Evolve room, which sits between the Challenge and Leaderboard rooms. You need six things.

MaterialQtyWhere it comes from
Azure Remnant22Challenges; Coin Merchant stock
Violet Remnant13Challenges; Coin Merchant stock
Radiant Remnant6Challenges; Coin Merchant stock
Prismatic Remnant2Challenges; Coin Merchant stock
Cursed Lover’s Ring1500 Cursed Tickets in the Rift Shop
Cursed Lover’s Sword1Crafted

The sword is its own crafting bill: 30 Azure Remnants, 9 Violet Remnants, 5 Radiant Remnants, 4 Prismatic Remnants and 12,000 Coins. Add that to the table above and Remnants, not the unit itself, become the real bottleneck. Challenges are the reliable source, with the Coin Merchant stocking every tier as a top-up.

At 50 to 55 tickets a clear, the 500-ticket ring costs roughly 10 rift completions — comfortably inside the 40 you might spend hitting pity. Buy the evolution items before anything cosmetic in the shop, since the same currency also covers Toji and Gojo evolution pieces.

Note: check the totals on the evolve screen before you start farming. The Azure Remnant requirement is the one number that has shifted between builds.

What Pure Love actually does

Passive / AbilityEffect
Lingering Queen’s HeadsEvery 6 attacks, manifests 1 Cursed Head that fires a mini Love Beam. 30% chance to manifest 2 instead. Each head deals 85% of the unit’s Damage in a small AoE.
CopyCopies one copyable Active Ability from a selected unit. Stores up to 4 at once. Copied abilities keep their original effects and cooldowns; Copy itself goes on roughly a 110-second cooldown between captures.
Love Beam (Ability)Strikes 5 times in a wide line for a combined 300% of the unit’s Damage.

Copy only takes active abilities, never passives, and each stolen ability runs on its own separate cooldown. That’s the part people underrate. Copying Gojo’s 60-second time stop means the board now has two time stops firing independently, and grabbing something like Goku’s Instant Transmission gives Yuta mobility he was never designed to have.

The trade-off is that his ceiling is set by your other units. On a thin roster he’s a solid damage dealer sitting just under Madara. On a board with Gojo and Starrk he becomes the most flexible unit in the game.

Traits, stats and ascension

Getting the unit is only half of it. Roll traits with Trait Rerolls before you sink food items into levelling — Overseer is a strong landing spot, giving +20% Damage, -5% Cooldown, +10% Range and converting 30% of damage dealt into True Damage.

Level him with food items such as Soul Candy and Ramen, then reroll stats until the unit hits S+ rank. Base placement cost is 1,000 with a 6.2-second attack interval; fully upgraded showcases land around 25.2k per hit every 4.5 seconds.

Ascension is separate from evolution and every Secret needs it. Ascension I costs one duplicate Cursed Lover and grants +3% damage. Duplicates are unlikely at a 2% drop rate, so fusion cores from the Igris world boss are the practical substitute. One other constraint worth knowing before you plan traits: only one unit on your account can hold the Immortal trait at a time.

Confirming the drop and common mistakes

You’ll know the roll hit at the end-of-run reward screen, where the pity counter displays as a fraction out of 40 — an 8/40 reading means eight clears deep. Cursed Lover then appears in your unit list, and the evolve menu will show the Pure Love option greyed out until every material is in your inventory.

Two things stop people short. Entering the rift and failing the run gives you nothing — pity only advances on completed clears, so an unstable squad can burn a whole 30-minute window for zero progress. And spending Cursed Tickets on cosmetics leaves you unable to buy the ring, which blocks the evolution even after the unit itself drops.

Yuta is tied to the current Jujutsu Kaisen rift rotation, and Shibuya Metro is the only rift in the game right now. Both the rift and world boss systems are built to rotate, which is a good argument for finishing the 40 clears while the portal is still the one spawning.
